Ugh, I agree, Jen.
Such a sad, sad situation.
I hate hearing her life has ended far too soon.
She was so brilliant in her day, yet so troubled these past years. verklempt

In tribute to the magnificently talented
Whitney Houston ... I Look to You

As I lay me down
Heaven hear me now
I'm lost without a cause
After giving it my all

Winter storms have come
And darkened my sun
After all that I've been through
Who on earth can I turn to?

I look to you
I look to you
After all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

About to lose my breath
There's no more fighting left
Sinking to rise no more
Searching for that open door

And every road that I've taken
Led to my regret
And I don't know if I'm gonna make it
Nothing to do but lift my head

I look to you
I look to you
And when all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

My levee's have broken, my walls have come
Crumbling down on me
The rain is falling, defeat is calling
I need you to set me free

Take me far away from the battle
I need you, shine on me

I look to you
I look to you
After all my strength has gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

I look to you
I look to you

In memory of Davy Jones, who died today from a heart attack at the age of 66. I LOVED the Monkees!

I'm a Believer by Neil Diamond

I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me.
Love was out to get me
That's the way it seemed.
Disappointment haunted all my dreams.

Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind.
I'm in love, I'm a believer!
I couldn't leave her if I tried.

I thought love was more or less a given thing,
Seems the more I gave the less I got.
What's the use in tryin'?
All you get is pain.
When I needed sunshine I got rain.

Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind.
I'm in love, I'm a believer!
I couldn't leave her if I tried.

Me, too, Toni. I grew up watching their tv show, also.
Just learned Davy Jones died and couldn't believe it.
He was so young! How sad!

Thank you for sharing "I'm a Believer" with us.

I figured the younger folk would recognize it from that little movie about the ogre and the donkey

Not sure if I have shared anything with a sort of new music crush of mine.

This is Citizen Cope - I am totally in love with his stuff. He is not that popular but boy oh boy, he should be.
This video actually has him in instead of just lyrics along with this song. Don't get me wrong, I am just happy as a lark just to listen to his catchy music and lyrics....

"Son's Gonna Rise"

Rollin' down the highway
Like a rocket
God, I'm headed to town now
You can't stop it
Got wheel in my hand
As I stand
On the floor
Of the board
Of this car
On the road
Got this woman in the back seat
Yeah she's my wifey
In the middle of the delivery
Man she saves me
To this day I don't know why
She picked me up
When I was down on the road
With the wind when it blowed

Well a son's gonna rise in a mile
In a mile
You'll be feeling fine
In a mile you will see
After me
You'll be out of the dark, yeah
You'll get your shot

You know, if I'm not mistaken my Daughter #2 told me about Citizen Cope a few years back.
I'll double check on that but I'm pretty sure she was really big into him for awhile, Jen.

I have always loved this sad, beautiful song by the very talented Josh Groban.

February Song

Where has that old friend gone
Lost in a February song
Tell him it won't be long
Til he opens his eyes, opens his eyes
Where is that simple day
Before colors broke into shades
And how did I ever fade
Into this life, into this life

And I never want to let you down
Forgive me if I slip away
When all that I've known is lost and found
I promise you I, I'll come back to you one day

Morning is waking up
And sometimes it's more than just enough
When all that you need to love
Is in front of your eyes
It's in front of your eyes

And I never want to let you down
Forgive me if I slip away
Sometimes it's hard to find my ground
Cause I keep on falling as I try to get away
From this crazy world

And I never want to let you down
Forgive me if I slip away
When all that I've known is lost and found
I promise you I, I'll come back to you one day

Where has that old friend gone
Lost in a February song
Tell him it won't be long
Til he opens his eyes
Opens his eyes

I have totally fallen in love with this band

Sleeping At Last
Sleeping at Last is an indie rock band that was originally formed in 1999 in Wheaton, Illinois. Lead singer and multi-instrumentalist Ryan O'Neal is the sole member of the band

Death is promised to the bee
Who's sting protects the colony.
Was its life worth nothing more
Than honey for the queen?

Life is a branch and it is a dove,
Handcrafted by confusing love.
Sign language is our reply,
When church bells make no sound.

In hollow towers and empty hives,
We craved sweetness with a fear of heights.
Was it all just a grain of sand
In an hourglass?

The smartest thing i've ever learned
Is that i don't have all the answers,
Just a little light to call my own.

Though it pales in comparison
To the overarching shadows,
A speck of light can reignite the sun
And swallow darkness whole.

Death is a cold, blindfolded kiss.
It is the finger pressed upon our lips.
It puts an unwanted emphasis
On how we should have lived.

Life is a gorgeous, broken gift.
Six billion+ pieces waiting to be fixed.
Love letters that were never signed,
Sent to where we live.

But the sweetest thing i've ever heard
Is that i don't have to have the answers,
Just a little light to call my own.

Though it pales in comparison
To the overarching shadows,
A speck of light can reignite the sun
And swallow darkness whole.

This is one of my favorite Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole songs.
It is beautiful & haunting & meaningful and I absolutely love it.

Hawai'i 78

Ua mau, ke ea o ka aina, i ka pono, o Hawai'i
Ua mau, ke ea o ka aina, i ka pono, o Hawai'i
(The Life of the Land is Perpetuated in Righteousness)

If just for a day our king and queen
Would visit all these islands and saw everything
How would they feel about the changes of our land

Could you just imagine if they were around
And saw highways on their sacred grounds
How would they feel about this modern city life

Tears would come from each others eyes
As they would stop to realize
That our people are in great great danger now
How, would they feel, could their smiles be content, then cry

[Chorus:]

Cry for the gods, cry for the people
Cry for the land that was taken away
And then yet you'll find, Hawai'i

Could you just imagine they came back
And saw traffic lights and railroad tracks
How would they feel about this modern city life

Tears would come from each others eyes
As they would stop to realize
That our land is in great great danger now

All the fighting that the king had done
To conquer all these islands now these condominiums
How would he feel if he saw Hawai'i nei
How, would he feel, would his smile be content, then cry

[Chorus]

Ua mau, ke ea o ka aina, i ka pono, o Hawai'i
Ua mau, ke ea o ka aina, i ka pono, o Hawai'i

I don't know what has been posted before in this thread but this is one of my fave songs so I thought I would share it

She's all laid up in bed with a broken heart,
While I'm drinking jack all alone in my local bar,
And we don't know how,
How we got into this mad situation,
Only doing things out of frustration

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard,

She needs me now but I can't seem to find the time,
I've got a new job now on the unemployment line,
And we don't know how,
How we got into this mess
Is it god's test?
Someone help us 'cause we're doing our best,

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard

But we're gonna start by
Drinking old cheap bottles of wine,
Sit talking up all night,
Saying things we haven't for a while
A while, yeah
We're smiling but we're close to tears,
Even after all these years,
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting for the first time

[x3]
Oooooo

She's in line at the DOLE*
With her head held high (high)
While I just lost my job but
Didn't lose my pride

But we both know how,
How we're gonna make it work when it hurts,
When you pick yourself up,
You get kicked to the dirt,

Trying to make it work but,
Man these times are hard,

But we're gonna start by,
Drinking old cheap bottles of wine,
Sit talking up all night,

Doing things we haven't for a while,
A while yeah,
We're smiling but we're close to tears,
Even after all these years,
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting for the first time.

Ooooo
[x3]

Yeah.....
Drinking old cheap bottles of wine,
Sit talking up all night,
Saying things we haven't for a while,
We're smiling but we're close to tears,
Even after all these years,
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting, for the first time

ooooo...., yeah for the first time
(ooooo....), oh for the first time,
Yeah for the first time,
(just now got the feeling that we're meeting...
For the first time)

[x4]
Oh these times are hard,
Yeah they're making us crazy
Don't give up on me baby

I really like that song, Claire.
Thank you for sharing it with us and for stepping up to the microphone @ Sugah's Karaoke Bar & Grill.

This is one of my faves by Bob Marley.
Spent the afternoon listening to his cd with Baylee.

No Woman, No Cry

No woman, no cry (Repeat 4 times)

Said said
Said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
Oba, ob-serving the hypocrites
As they would mingle with the good people we meet
Good friends we have had, oh good friends we've lost along the way
In this bright future you can't forget your past
So dry your tears I say

No woman, no cry
No woman, no cry
Oh my Little sister, don't she'd no tears
No woman, no cry

Said, said, said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire light
Log wood burnin' through the night
Then we would cook corn meal porridge
Of which I'll share with you

My feet is my only carriage
So I've got to push on through
But while I'm gone...

Everything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright
Ev'rything's gonna be alright

No woman, no cry
No, no woman, no woman, no cry
Oh, little sister, don't she'd no tears
No woman, no cry

No woman, no woman, no woman, no cry
No woman, no cry
Oh, my little darlyn no she'd no tears
No woman, no cry, yeah
any sister no she'd no tears, no women no cry

No woman no cry, no woman no cry
No woman no cry, no woman no cry

Say, say, said I remember when we used to sit
In a government yard in Trenchtown
Obba, obba, serving the hypocrites
As the would mingle with the good people we meet
Good friends we have, oh, good friends we've lost
Along the way
In this great future,
You can't forget your past
So dry your tears, I say

No woman no cry, no woman no cry
Little darling, don't she'd no tears, no woman no cry
Say, say, said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire light
As it was, love would burn on through the night
Then we would cook cornmeal porridge
Of which I'll share with you
My fear is my only courage
So I've got to push on thru
Oh, while I'm gone

Everything 's gonna be alright, everything 's gonna be alright
Everything 's gonna be alright, everything 's gonna be alright
Everything 's gonna be alright, everything 's gonna be alright
Everything 's gonna be alright, everything 's gonna be alright
So woman no cry, no, no woman no cry
Oh, my little sister
Don't she'd no tears
No woman no cry
I remember when we use to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown
And then Georgie would make the fire lights
As it was, log would burnin' through the nights
Then we would cook cornmeal porridge
Of which I'll share with you
My fear is my only courage
So I've got to push on thru
Oh, while I'm gone
No woman no cry, no, no woman no cry
Oh, my little darlin'
Don't she'd no tears
No woman no cry, No woman no cry

Oh my Little darlin', don't she'd no tears
No woman no cry
Little sister, don't she'd no tears
No woman no cry

I love that song, reminds me of my trip to Jamaica many moons ago

I just discovered this band thanks to a friend and I really am crushing on this song right now

Coming Down - Dum Dum Girls

I take as much as I can get
I don't take any regret
I close my eyes to conjure up something
But it's just a faint taste in my mouth

I think I'm coming down
I think I'm coming down

By tomorrow I'll be leaving
By tomorrow I'll gone
If you want to tell me something
You had better make it strong

'Cause I think I'm coming down
I think I'm coming down
I think I'm coming down
I think I'm coming down

I think I'm coming down
(Here I go)
I think I'm coming down
(Here I go)
I think I'm coming down
(Here I go)
I think I'm coming down
Here I go

There I go

You abuse the ones who love you
You abuse the ones who won't
If you ever had a real heart
I don't think you'd know where to start

'Cause I think I'm coming down
I think I'm coming down
I think I'm coming down
Yeah, I think I'm coming down

Yes, I think I'm coming down
Yes, I think I'm coming down

Thank you for stepping up to the mike, as always, Lady Jen.

I've been missing Hawai'i so much since I left paradise.
I love the islands and I love Bruddah Iz.
This song has been playing in my head of late.

White Sandy Beach
ISRAEL KAMAKAWIWO OLE'

I saw you in my dreams
We were walking hand in hand
On a white, sandy beach of Hawaii
We were playing in the sun
We were having so much fun
on a white, sandy beach of Hawaii

The sound of the ocean
soothes my restless soul
The sound of the ocean
rocks me all night long

Those hot long summer days
Lying there in the sun
on a white, sandy beach of Hawaii

The sound of the ocean
soothes my restless soul
The sound of the ocean
rocks me all night long

Last night in my dreams
I saw your face again
We were there in the sun
on a white, sandy beach of Hawaii

In honor of the Olympics, I thought I would share the theme song, which just happens to be by my favorite band the whole world Muse.
The video is fantastic with great action shots of previous games :)

Muse – Survival Lyrics

Race, life’s a race
And I am gonna win
Yes, I am gonna win

And I’ll light the fuse
And I’ll never lose
And I choose to survive
Whatever it takes
You won’t pull ahead
I’ll keep up the pace
And I’ll reveal my strength
To the whole human race
Yes I am prepared
To stay alive
I won’t forgive, the vengeance is mine
And I won’t give in
Because I choose to thrive

I’m gonna win

Race, it’s a race
But I’m gonna win
Yes I’m gonna win
And will light the fuse
I’ll never lose
And I choose to survive
Whatever it takes
You won’t ṗull ahead
I’ll keep up the pace
And I’ll reveal my strength
To the whole human race
Yes I’m gonna win

Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Win! Win! Win! Win!

Yes I’m gonna win

Love Carrie Underwood and her new song Blown Away just goes to show you how talented this woman is.

"Blown Away"

Dry lightning cracks across the skies
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Her daddy was a mean old mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weather man called for a twister
She prayed blow it down

There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

[Chorus:]
Shatter every window 'til it’s all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'til there’s nothing left standing,
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away

She heard those sirens screaming out
Her daddy laid there passed out on the couch
She locked herself in the cellar
Listened to the screaming of the wind
Some people called it taking shelter
She called it sweet revenge

[Chorus:]
Shatter every window 'til it’s all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'til there’s nothing left standing,
Nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away

There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

Shatter every window 'til it’s all blown away (blown away)
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away (blown away)
'til there’s nothing left standing,
Nothing left of yesterday (blown away)
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,

Blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away

This is the song my upcoming story is based off of:

The wind is moving
But I am standing still
A life of pages
Waiting to be filled

A heart that's hopeful
A head that's full of dreams
But this becoming
Is harder than it seems

Feels like I'm
Looking for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

If there are millions
Down on their knees
Among the many
Can you still hear me

Hear me asking
Where do I belong?
Is there a vision
That I can call my own?

Show me, I'm
Looking for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

Lookin' for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

Lookin' for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world

I love, love, love this song..

James Morrison is a British singer and is just so mellow and smooth...

Hope you like this one

In My Dreams - James Morrison
Since you’ve gone
Nothing seems to fit no more
And nothing's as it was before

Everyday
Is a battle that I just can’t win
I know I won’t see you again

But, I keep waiting for the night
I close my eyes and hope you’ll find me sleeping

Coz in my dreams
We can spend a little time just talking
In my dreams
We’re side by side just walking

Oh, I think of the times we used to know
The places we used to go
Are still there
In my dreams
On the front of the crossbar of your bike
We can go anyplace, anywhere you like
In my dreams

And as hard as it seems
Till then I’ll wait
To see you again
In my dreams

Don’t you wake me up
I don’t wanna go nowhere
I’ve been waiting for a zillion years

You’re gone too soon
I know I’ll never get the chance
To say the things I never said

But I keep waiting for the night
I close my eyes and hope you’ll find me sleeping

Coz in my dreams
We can spend a little time together
In my dreams
We’re side by side just walking

Oh by the pier that we used to know
The places we used to go
Are all still there
In my dreams
On the front of the crossbar of your bike
We can go anyplace, anywhere you like
In my dreams

And some place when I feel will fade away
Till then I’ll wait
To see you again
Coz I’ll wait, I’ll wait
To see you again
In my dreams

I’ll see you again
In my dreams

PostSubject: Start At The Beginning - Among Savages   Sun Nov 25, 2012 8:27 am

I just love discovering new and underrated artists...it's like finding the perfect gem in a treasure chest..

Let me introduce you to Among Savages...the singer has a very beautiful and haunting voice,he gives me goosebumps

Among Savages - Let Us Start At the Beginning

Let us start at the beginning
Let us start at the beginning

Let us start at the beginning
So there's no proof of us ever quitting
Let us start at the beginning
There's a new sunrise for ever sun setting

Let us start at the beginning
To save us from this path we're treading
Let us start at the beginning
Your life is waiting on you to be ready

Ready
Let us start at the beginning
You don't know love if you can't forgive
Let us start at the beginning
You'll never know me if you can't let me in

Ready
Your love is my love
My love is your love
Our love is growing
Our love is going nowhere

Your love is my love
My love is your love
Our love is growing
Our love is going nowhere

Your love is my love
(Give, give, give)
My love is your love
(Take, take, take)
Our love is growing
(Let me live)
Our love is going nowhere
(For heaven's sake)

Your love is my love
(Give, give, give)
My love is your love
(Take, take, take)
Our love is growing
(Let me live)
Our love is going nowhere
(For heaven's sake)
Let us start at the beginning

I just love this song it's very beautiful...

Paloma Faith - Just Be

Let get old together
Lets be unhappy forever
Cause there's no one else in this world
That I'd rather be unhappy with
Lets be exposed and unprotected
Lets see one another when were weak
Lets go our separate ways in the night like two moths
But know that your flying home to me
I was born thinking it would all be dreaming
But I know that I wouldn't be happy that way

You wear me out with frustration and heartache and anger
But we wait for the wave just to wash it away
Don't say nothing
Just sit next to me
Don't say nothing
Shhh
Just be just be just be

Lets let go together
Let us unfold one another
And watch all the little things that once drew me to you
Eventually get on my nerves

I wear you out with frustration and heartache and anger
But we wait for the wave just to wash it away
Don't say nothing
Just sit next me
Don't say nothing
Shhh
Just be just be just be

When your sick of the everyday ohhh
When your tired of my voice
When you tell me you walk out that door
That's when I no that you'll stay ohm

Don't say nothing
Just sit next to me
Don't say nothing
Just be just be
Just don't say nothing
Just sit next to me
Don't say nothing
Just be just be just

Don't say nothing
Shhh
