Your (not-to-be-named-moronic) neighbors have been sued several times for negligence and STILL continue to disregard the neighborhood restrictions?

*Actually, they are in jeopardy of losing their home. The Home Owners Association just served them.

What makes people so dense or stubborn? So uncooperative? Is it worth it to them to either be lazy or rebellious or apathetic about the association's rules?
They are about to lose their HOME, for criminy sake!!!

Well, they are just a piece of work; if you met them, this would not surprise you in the least.

I've known neighbors like that.
Some of our Home Owner's Associations around here are so strict, we have to get approval to even change a freakin' door knob.
(Well, you get my drift ... I exaggerate ever so slightly.)

* Ours is strict like that. You need to submit plans for everything. It can be a pain, but you know what you sign up for before you buy the house, you know. I don't think anyone can argue keeping snow and ice off the front of your house, though.

I agree with you.
These associations are a blessing in the long run.
It forces people to go the extra mile to take good care of their homes.
This way, you don't have someone on your block painting their house monkey vomit green or putting dead cars up on cinder blocks or having their front yards look like a garage sale is going on 24-7.
And you're right. Folks know what they're getting into when they buy a house in a neighborhood that has strict homeowner's policies.

*You are not kidding. Without the homeowner's association, you never know what your neighbor's house would look like. Although I read this book called "The Association" by Bentley Little, and he took the Homeowner's Association to another level.
