It's actually just a bit of romantic fluff, Nonni.
She wrote a few books back in the 80s-90s (I believe) that were re-released once her Stephanie Plum novels became so popular. At least, I THINK that's what happened.
You can read one of these light & breezy, fun books in a few hours actually.

I read The Wolf and the Dove many years ago (plus several other Woodiwiss books). She was one of my fave historical romance novelists in the 80s.

My mom loves her. She was a big fan of the hysterical, errr...historical romance novel when I was younger. Woodiwiss was one of her faves, along with Johanna Lindsay and Beatrice Small. Historical novels actually paved my way into philosophy and literature a little bit; when I read them I always found myself looking into the background information and found that more interesting than the story, lol.

That's exactly what happened, milking her name for all it's worth AFTER she proved herself with the Plum series. A lot of fiction authors get their starts with romantic fluff or submissions to short story collections.
