| Sadly I have no person experience with elevators...I do remember one time at Hobby Lobby...I was halfway down an aisle and a gas attack hit...I looked, no one around so...I scurried out of the aisle and a sadly a few moments later a woman and her daughter went down that aisle and they get about halfway down and the little girl goes "Mommy, what's that smell?" And they hurried out of the aisle...it was too freaking funny. In that vein Where did that come from? | |

| Explanation: Cockney rhyming slang was originally intended to be a sort of "code-speak" that the "authorities" wouldn't understand. Instead of using a word, you use the other part of a phrase that rhymes with the word, thus... The most known "Use your loaf", meaning "Use your head" "Think". Loaf of bread, rhymes with head. I'm currently reading a novel by Terry Pratchett (better known for his Discworld series) called Dodger. The protagonist is based on the "Artful Dodger" of Oliver Twist and takes place in Victorian London. Dodger works in the sewers, looking for lost coins, etc. and has to be careful not to step in "Richards". Richard the Third, Third rhymes with... That's why "Raspberry" can refer to a rude, buzzing noise, Tart rhymes with fart! A woman might complain of pain in her "Bristols". Bristol City rhymes with T____ Things got complicated when in the 1970s and 1980s there was an influx of medical people into England from the Indian subcontinent. They actually had to provide them with a glossary so they would know what their patients were talking about. As you can see from the above examples, Cockney rhyming slang very commonly dealt with the "naughty bits". Oh yes... with a question... Do you understand Cockney rhyming slang now? Did you really want to? | |

| Cockney 'speak' sounds like fun, do you think they would speak slowly and use exaggerated elocution for me? | |

| Tim, of course I feel welcome. I was just trying to be humorous. But I am definitely not witty.
Is this going over anyone else's head? | |
