| Your Sims 3 self doesn't look too bad, Ed. Not nearly as 'bloated' or 'pudgy faced' as most TS3 sims I've seen. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your serial code, Hobbes. That really stinks. Was SimSean's wife named Shelby? Or am I thinking of someone else? Seeing those pictures just made that name pop into my head. We recently started a new simsibs challenge over at Hunter's forum, Basic for Sims. It's been pretty fun to play together again (or just play even) and share our sims adventures. I haven't had time for that in a long time. It's too late for anyone else to join in, but you guys should stop by and read some of our game postings. The section of the forum that it's in is called the "La Femme" project. | |

| Ed, your "bad recreation" of yourself looks very good, actually. His face doesn't look as "cartoonish" as the other sims in the game (one of these days I have to find a good word to use to describe the faces). And I like the touch of gray roots to the other sim, as well.
Ah yes, I remember simSean's wife better than ever now. I think Shelby was the name of one of the girls in our challenge, and considering I was the only guy who did it (I think..), that must have been her name. My word is she good lookin'. I also like simSean's outfit in the picture where he is on his knees. That's so me. Thanks for posting that, Sugah.

MAJOR improvement over most ALL other bloated looking, puddin' faced Sims 3 Sims, Ed. Way to go! Shelby! That's IT! I knew she had a unique name. Thank you, Em. - Quote :

I just pictured you in stylish golf shirts, Sean, so I went with it. Wish I could remember where I got it. I rather like that ensemble myself! It was such a fun project, that I'm always glad to revisit it. Brings back lots of nice memories of our tight little group and what a blast we had playing our Sims together.

| I had a major puter crash awhile back and lost everything, Sean. None of my data could be saved. The saddest loss for me was our Simsibs and a few of my original, most beloved families. I sure hope some of your files were saved. It's a bummer when all is lost. On a positive note, I welcome you whole heartedly back to the wonderful world of Sims 2 and hope you will hang out with us and share your adventures. | |

| I find it kind of disturbing that you got so sick of the Sims 3 so quickly. A few weeks ago you said you would never look back and now you are tired of it. I am not directing this at you, Sean, but more to EA. It seems they put a lot of time and effort into the Sims 2, studying human nature, the way people interact with one another, with their pets, and with the things that surround them. They added a lot of humor and made the game very open to creation. They left it very open-ended, so you could do as much or as little as you want with your sims. In the next level, I would have expected all this and more, but from what I have heard it is quite the opposite. The only people I have heard from who are completely happy with the Sims 3 are those who are first time simmers. Out of all the things you listed above, is there one that killed the game for you more than the others, Sean? | |

| I'm kinda bumping a thread here, but it's a thread that needs a bump! I've got both Sims 3 and Sims 2 installed on this machine. I used my old Sims 2 discs I had from a while back, and my Sims 3 that I bought the week it came out. I do like Sims 3, I really do, it's just...well... I saw there's an expansion for the Sims 3 now. Did I buy it? No. I saw that I hadn't bought Apartment life for Sims 2. Did I buy it? Yes. Mind you, Katy Perry was promoting that one, so it might say something about it. My Sims 3 and Sims 2 icons are next to each other...but my mouse always clicks the Sims 2. | |

| Sphinx, a few posts after mine got lost during the "incident". The consensus was basically what you just said, and seems to be the same on most forums that discuss both games. Most people seem to be fascinated with TS3 at first, but quickly get bored with it. I could not, nor can I, get past those moon-shaped, doughy faces. They just give me the creeps with that "Stepford" like expression they all seem to have. | |

| I concur with Elle. I've never had an interest in Sims 3. Couldn't get passed the pudgy, bloated faces ... not to mention they all resemble eachother so much, they could be siblings. FREAKY STUFF! Aside from that, the general consensus all around is the Sims 2 remains far better in most every way. | |

| Before TS2 came out, when I was playing TS1, I read up all the news about the latest developments of the new version of the game. I bought it as soon as it came out. With TS3, I didn't even follow the latest news on it, because I knew I wasn't going to get it. 1. The aforementioned pudgy, bloated, doughy identical faces. Going from 1 to 2 improved the look of the sims I recreated when I switched. Going from 2 to 3 would have made them look worse, I feared. 2. I don't have room on my computer for any more games (or anything at all really) and I'm not finished with TS2 yet. 3. I don't have time to play or learn how to play a new game. I don't really have time to play TS2 anymore. I think the open neighborhood sounds interesting, I'd like to try it out to see what it's like, but it sounds like people have lost interest in it quickly. Maybe when and if TS4 comes out I'll be ready for a new game to play. | |

Too funny! Every time you remind me of this, it cracks me up. - Quote :

I read somewhere that the lifespan of TS3 will probably be very short; this person said EA developers were already working on its successor and that TS3 will not have the duration TS1 or TS2 had. I don't know how accurate this was though; I believe it was in someone's blog.

That's interesting. It wouldn't surprise me if TS3 was short-lived. It seems to be a flop, at least that's the impression that I've gotten. But even in chats for the TS2 expansions they talked about working on TS3 already, so maybe it's kind of normal for them to be working so far ahead. I wonder what a TS4 would be like if it was in the works...

| I know EA announced that TS3 did not meet any of their expectations when it came to sales. I do remember them discussing TS3, but I did not hear the company mention it until they released the third or fourth expansion. Maybe it is normal for them to be talking about it, but it does seem a bit soon to me. Whatever the case, I sincerely hope they put more effort into TS4 if they make one. | |

The content with TS2 is fine; I just wish it could keep up with my graphics card. Some of my hair and clothes don't look that great with my updated systems.

| Honestly, I don't know what I would wish a newer version of the game to have. Maybe some of the positive things that have been said about TS3, like the lack of loading screens and a more open neighborhood? I'm pretty happy with TS2 how it is. I would say I wish they would make more EPs for TS2, but I don't even have all of the existing ones because I have no room left on my laptop. More TS2 expansions sound good to me, but I think I may need a new computer too. | |

| Well, they it's an open neighbourhood, but with my experience, it's exactly the same as TS2 in that respect - apart from the fact you don't see the loading screen and it loads quicker. | |

I have played TS3, and have WA. I enjoyed the seemless play and the way the world kept moving along and didnt stop just because my sim wasnt interacting with the other neighbors. That being said, i went back to TS2 because I was still learning and enjoying the game and I wasnt ready to learn the new techs required to create for TS3. Maybe in the future. I hear there is already a new expansion pack supposed to be out shortly, which seems rather quick to me. I would hope for a TS4, but I would hope they would listen to some feedback from the community (yeah, thats gonna happen). And i would like to see a compilation of the best features from TS2 and TS3. Perhaps it's my limited pc knowledge, but I dont see why we cant create sims that have the beauty of sims2 with the wide selection allowed in 3, keeping the seemless play and great graphics and in game modifications, but without the tools making me feel like I am using kindergarten jumbo crayons. I know that one is hard to grasp, but building just feels like that to me. Anyhoo, thats just me.

| Thank you, everyone, for your input. It's interesting to read all the different opinions and ideas. As far as new EPs for Sims 2, I can't think of anything I'd care to add to my current gameplay. I currently have NL, FT and AL installed in my main puter. I own Bon Voyage and am going to install it, just cause I'm dyin' for the option to have REAL beach front property for my Sims. I still don't have any interest in Uni, OFB, Seasons or Pets, though I have considered reinstalling Pets a time or two of late. I don't really feel like anything is missing in my game right now, to be honest. I've had every opportunity to install the above mentioned EPs but opted out. I'm still exploring Apartment Life and really like it! | |

| Slightly off topic, but I partly wish that EA would get together with Ubisoft for their next installment. Not so much that Ubisoft has superior games, I think they're about equal. It's in the fact that Ubisoft brings out a brilliant game, with things wrong in it that they didn't realise. Every game that comes out has something wrong with it. But Ubisoft LISTEN to the community, find out what they dont' like, what needs to be improved, and what needs more work on. And then they actually do it! | |

That would be the main reason I would want to get BV. There's always a couple of each things that appeal to me. I think AL would be nice to have. I would love to play multi-family homes and apartments. I think that would be great for my game play. I had Uni uninstalled for awhile, but I put it back in. There were too many things I missed. . . I couldn't tell you what now, just objects mostly, I think. The Uni careers and career rewards are pretty nice to have too. I still have Pets installed, although I really haven't had my sims have pets much, and not at all lately when I've played. That EP did come with a lot of cute decorative items that I would be afraid of losing from my sims' homes if I uninstalled it. I really enjoy Seasons, I know Sugah isn't fond of the hassles weather brings, but I like it. - Quote :

That would be the best of both worlds, for sure. You just reminded me of another feature I like about TS3, the body sliders so you can create different body types easily. Having sims with different heights would be nice too (I know that doesn't work out well with the game animations). I also think gradual aging would be kind of cool so sims don't automatically jump from one age to another - although that might not be best for storytelling purposes. Maybe a couple of more life stages, like preteen or middle aged, those life stages you have to do a lot of work to fake in TS2.
