I was going through some of my cds tonight and found my Sarah McLachlan one. I love her beautiful and haunting voice.
I remember this song from Message In a Bottle - Kevin Costner & Robin Wright Penn. I think the lyrics are very touching.
Ok here goes...

I Love You

I have a smile
Stretched from ear to ear
To see you walking down the road
We meet at the lights
I stare for a while
The world around us disappears

It's just you and me
On my island of hope
Breath
between us, could be miles
Let me surround you
My sea to your
shore
Let me be the calm you seek

Oh but everytime I'm close to you
There's too much I can't say
And you just walk away

And
I forgot
To tell you, I love you
And the night's too long
And cold here, without you
But I grieve in my condition
For I cannot find the words to say
I need you so

Oh but everytime I'm close
to you
There's too much I can't say
And you just walk away

And
I forgot
To tell you, I love you
And th' night's too long
And
cold here, without you
I grieve in my condition
For I cannot find
the words to say
I need you so bad
I need you so bad

A Song for Mama
by Boyz II Men

You taught me everything
And everything you've given me
I always keep it inside
You're the driving force in my life, yeah

There isn't anything
Or anyone I can be
And it just wouldn't feel right
If I didn't have you by my side

You were there for me to love and care for me
When skies were grey
Whenever I was down
You were always there to comfort me
And no one else can be what you have been to me
You'll always be you always will be the girl
In my life for all times

Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul

You're always down for me
Have always been around for me even when I was bad
You showed me right from my wrong
Yes you did

And you took up for me
When everyone was downin' me
You always did understand
You gave me strength to go on

There was so many times
Looking back when I was so afraid
And then you come to me
And say to me I can face anything
And no one else can do
What you have done for me
You'll always be
You will always be the girl in my life
Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul

I love almost everything Boyz II Men has ever done.
They were always one of my absolute faves when they were making hits.
What a great sound!

And A Song for Mama is greatness!
My daughters have played and dedicated that song to me in prior years and it never fails to make me all verklempt. verklempt

This song has always been a fave of mine. It's romantic and I love the words and melody.
The guitar playing is beautiful as well.

I started thinking about it again when, on American Idol, the contestants did a duet featuring this song last weekend.
It's from the movie Don Juan DeMarco starring Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando.

I hope you like it!

Have you Ever Really Loved a Woman by Bryan Adams

To really love a woman
To understand her - you gotta know it deep inside
Hear every thought - see every dream
N' give her wings - when she wants to fly
Then when you find yourself lyin' helpless in her arms
You know you really love a woman

When you love a woman you tell her
that she's really wanted
When you love a woman you tell her that she's the one
she needs somebody to tell her
that it's gonna last forever
So tell me have you ever really
- really really ever loved a woman?

To really love a woman
Let her hold you -
til ya know how she needs to be touched
You've gotta breathe her - really taste her
Til you can feel her in your blood
N' when you can see your unborn children in her eyes
You know you really love a woman

When you love a woman
you tell her that she's really wanted
When you love a woman you tell her that she's the one
she needs somebody to tell her
that you'll always be together
So tell me have you ever really -
really really ever loved a woman?

You got to give her some faith - hold her tight
A little tenderness - gotta treat her right
She will be there for you, takin' good care of you
Ya really gotta love your woman...

Then when you find yourself lyin' helpless in her arms
You know you really love a woman
When you love a woman you tell her
that she's really wanted
When you love a woman you tell her that she's the one
she needs somebody to tell her
that it's gonna last forever
So tell me have you ever really
- really really ever loved a woman?

Just tell me have you ever really,
really, really, ever loved a woman? You got to tell me
Just tell me have you ever really,
really, really, ever loved a woman?

Just before my mom passed, we came up with a "signal" that would let me know she was with me during the bad times. I always hear it on the radio or TV whenever I have a problem or am worried about something. I have been having some health problems lately and was worried as it does not seem to be improving - but I heard it last night on the radio - so I know everything will be fine. I thought I would share it with you.

That is a beautiful song and I'm very happy that you heard it last night though. I believe in signals - especially when it comes from family members that are or were close.

Thank you for sharing that song with us and for singing it so beautifully. Even more, thank you for sharing something so personal of yourself.

Sugah's Karaoke Bar & Grill - Page 2 154182I'm so glad everyone liked my song. Funny how it happens when I need it, as this is not a song that is played anywhere that much. God does indeed move in mysterious ways. There always is a light at the end of the tunnel, sometimes it just take a while to get there. If I have learn anything from this experience it is: 1. Go and get things checked out - what you think are just normal aches and pains can be something quite serious - take care of yourself, as well as others. 2. Enjoy each day as it is given; you never know which day will be the last. and 3. Be thankful for the small things - the big things are nice, but it is the small things that make our lives richer - like well wishes from good friends!

AMEN to that!

I would like to dedicate a song to you Labcat, if I may.

A few years ago I went through a horrible break up with a man that promised me marriage, children and forever - and instead he disappeared for about a month with no explanation. He spent Thanksgiving with me and my family and promised me FOREVER. After that I couldn't get him to talk to me or see me until right before Christmas. He needed time to himself and to decide what he really wanted. He and I went rounds and went on with that nonsense for several more months. I played the fool. I finally ended it and refused to let him play with me and my heart anymore. About the same time I was told I would probably never have children because of a surgery I was about to have. During the time I was in the hospital mending from my surgery - I listened to one particular song on my IPOD over and over and over. I literally would listen to this song on repeat for hours, often falling asleep to it.

I would like to dedicate that song to you. It is Mariah Carey's "Through the Rain". I hope you find something in the lyrics that I did. I left that hospital stronger, wiser and determined to be happy. I am happy today, despite new health problems and still unsure of whether I will ever bare children. I am happy. This song is for you.

Through the Rain
by Mariah Carey
When you get caught in the rain
With no where to run
When you're distraught and in pain without anyone
When you keep crying out to be saved

But nobody comes and you feel so far away
That you just can't find your way home
You can get there alone
It's okay, what you say is

I can make it through the rain,
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I'm strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain

And if you keep falling
down, don't you dare give in
You will arise safe and sound, so keep pressing on steadfastly
And you'll find what you need to prevail
What you say is

I can make it through the rain,
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I'm strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain

And when the rain blows,
as shadows grow close
Don't be afraid, there's nothing you can't face
And should they tell you, you'll never pull through
Don't hesitate, stand tall and say

I can make it through the rain, I can stand up
once again on my own
And I know that I'm strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain

I can make it through the rain
As I live once again
And I live one more day
I can make it through the rain
Yes you can
You gonna make it through the rain

Mariah often sings a lot of fluff - but she's so capable of greatness.
I consider this one of her "greatness" moments.
I thought you might like to hear her sing it (cause I don't do it justice).

Words of wisdom from LC ... Amen to that, sista, is RIGHT, Hunter!
It's interesting that you should post this, in particular, Deb:

Quote :
Be thankful for the small things - the big things are nice, but it is the small things that make our lives richer - like well wishes from good friends!

I have been thinking of starting a new thread in which we can post perhaps three things we are grateful for and/or feel blessed about each day.

Hunter, what you shared was so personal and inspirational. Thank you for letting us peek inside your world as you have.
You are such a strong, wise woman with an amazingly positive outlook, my friend, and I remain honored to know you.
Thank you for dedicating this incredibly beautiful, inspiring song by Mariah to Deb.

This thread is really great. So many good songs and sweet dedications.

I'm sorry to hear your health problems aren't improving, Labcat. How neat that you heard the special song you shared with your mom, when you were needing encouragement. That reminds me of a book I've been reading a little bit of the last few days, it's about coincidences like that, that are like signs from God. My husband's friend gave it to him a few months ago.

It's amazing how songs or lyrics can really speak to you during times in your life. I'm so glad that Hunter had that song to help encourage her and that things have gotten better for you since then.
