Lately, B and I have been walking around the house humming and singing this song. I'd heard it a long time ago in passing and kind of ignored it because it was Darius "Hootie" Rucker from Hootie & The Blowfish, but he performed the song at the "Capitol 4th" which we watched and we both fell in love with the lyrics.
Alright by Darius Rucker
Alright, Alright Yeah it's alright, alright
Don't need no five star reservations I've got spaghetti and a cheap bottle of wine Don't need no concert in the city I've got a stereo and the best of Patsy Cline Ain't got no caviar no Dom Perignon But as far as I can see, I've got everything I want
Cause I've got a roof over my head, the woman I love laying in my bed And it's alright, alright I've got shoes under my feet Forever in her eyes staring back at me And it's alright, alright And I've got all I need And it's alright by me
Maybe later on we'll walk down to the river Lay on a blanket and stare up at the moon It may not be no French Riviera But it's all the same to me as long as I'm with you
It may be a simple life, but that's okay If you ask me baby, I think I've got it made
Cause I've got a roof over my head, the woman I love laying in my bed And it's alright, alright I've got shoes under my feet Forever in her eyes staring back at me And it's alright, alright And I've got all I need And it's alright by me
It's alright by me, yeah yeah When I lay down at night I thank the Lord above For giving me everything I ever could dream of
Cause I've got a roof over my head, the woman I love laying in my bed And it's alright, alright, alright, alright I've got shoes under my feet Forever in her eyes staring back at me And it's alright, alright, alright And I've got all I need, yeah I've got all I need And it's alright by me Oh yeah, it's alright by me
Thanks for sharing. I am going to you tube to check it out

I've been in a real Boyz II Men mood lately. I've always loved that group and how beautifully they harmonize. This song is constantly going through my head these days. I told my daughter, if she makes American Idol (tryouts are August 11 in Austin, I believe), she should sing this song at some point. I really think she could nail it and make it her own.
This is one of my very favorite Boyz II Men songs (and I have many).
IT'S SO HARD TO SAY GOODBYE TO YESTERDAY
How do I say goodbye to what we had? The good times that made us laugh Outweigh the bad.
I thought we'd get to see forever But forever's gone away It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
I don't know where this road Is going to lead All I know is where we've been And what we've been through.
If we get to see tomorrow I hope it's worth all the wait It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
And I'll take with me the memories To be my sunshine after the rain It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
And I'll take with me the memories To be my sunshine after the rain It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

In the Belly of the Whale by Newsboys
from the Veggie Tales Movie: Jonah
Up to my ears In bitter tears. Can't believe I've sunk this low As I walk the plankton Inner sanctum. Got outta Dodge, Sailed on a bon-less Bon voyage. You said North, I headed South. Tossed overboard. Good Lord, that's a really large mouth...
I'm sleeping with fishes here, In the belly of the whale. I'm highly nutritious here, In the belly of the whale. Bad food, lousy atmosphere. I don't wanna bellyache. How long is this gonna take?
Woke up this morning kinda blue, Thinking through that age-old question: How to exit a whale's digestion? It might behoove me to be heaved. Head out like a human comet. Hmmm... I wonder what rhymes with comet.
I'm sleeping with fishes here, In the belly of the whale. I'm highly nutritious here, In the belly of the whale. I'm ready to reappear. I don't wanna bellyache. Lord, how long's this gonna take?
End times, they come rolling around. Enzymes, they come breaking us down to the core. The good Lord grants we all get a second chance.
I'm one of the dishes here, In the belly of the whale. They say I'm delicious here, In the belly of the whale. Lord, please make him chuck it all. It's a gut call In the belly of the whale.
I'm in the belly of the whale. In the belly of the whale. I'm in the belly. In the belly of the whale. I'm in the belly of the whale. In the belly of the whale. I'm in the belly...
In the belly of the whale In an underwater jail It's a tight squeeze. It's a-gettin' to me, But it's roomier Than the tail. Hey, sailor, Got my flow free Like a salmon to the sea From the L.A. Symphony. I'm a paddleboat Paddlin' in their wake, A fake free-styler, But my unemployment pays. I'm avoiding cliches Like "whale of a tale" say Or "you can't keep A good man down," 'Cause you can And I've been there, man. But I've been expectorated. I'm elated! I'm free like Willie! Happy Day! Oops, That's a bit of a cliche.
In the belly...

Wow, she must have some pipes on her if she can nail this song; it is particularly hard to sing. I am rooting for her to go all the way, you know. As Nonni says, it will add to my street cred to be able to say I know the mother of the 2011 American Idol, .
This is one of my favorite not only Boys II Men songs, but one of my favorite songs of all time. The extreme range variations and their beautiful harmony just make it a delight to listen to. Thank you for sharing it.
Nonni, I love Veggie Tales. Thanks for sharing that and making my morning.

Nonni, that was one totally random song to sing at our karaoke bar & grill! I've heard of Veggie Tales but have never watched the show. Thank you for stepping up to the microphone and entertaining us with In the Belly of the Whale.

For being such a little person, she does have a rather big set of pipes, Elle. I haven't heard her sing that particular song yet, but I'm hoping she considers trying it. Thank you for rooting for my youngest, btw. I appreciate your support and know she will, too.

I absolutely love it, too...for all the reasons you've mentioned. It truly is a beautiful song with lovely harmony, and simple, but good lyrics, sung by one of my fave bands of all time.
She's been wanting to for quite some time, actually. It just so happens this year, auditions are in Austin, which is where she works. (She lives and goes to school about 30 minutes from our capital.)
I'm very excited for her and proud of her. Whether she makes it or not, it'll still be so cool that she went for it, you know? I really need to have her make a YouTube video one of these days, so you all can hear her sing.
Love that animated graphic, btw, Nonni. Too cute!!!

My turn to sing. I shall choose one of the songs that's been stuck in my head this past week. It's probably because it's on my daughter's list of songs to sing, if she makes American Idol. (Auditions are next week!!! Send any and all positive thoughts to Austin, if you would!)

It's a true classic. Michael Buble redid it recently, but it's not quite the same as Nina's version.
Glad you enjoyed it, Nonni! Thank you for being here.

Mad World Written by Tears for Fears Sung by Gary Jules
I heart this song.... I like Gary's version much better. It is very haunting...
All around me are familiar faces Worn out places, worn out faces Bright and early for their daily races Going nowhere, going nowhere Their tears are filling up their glasses No expression, no expression Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kinda funny I find it kinda sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you I find it hard to take When people run in circles It's a very, very mad world mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday And I feel the way that every child should Sit and listen, sit and listen Went to school and I was very nervous No one knew me, no one knew me Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kinda funny I find it kinda sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you I find it hard to take When people run in circles It's a very, very mad world ... mad world Enlarging your world Mad world

Woah. I have never heard this song before, Jen. You're right. It is a haunting tune, the way Gary Jules sings it. I loved watching the video, too. Very cool!
Thank you for stepping up to the microphone. Fabulous job, dahling!

Well ladies and gents I have another song for you...
I just recently acquired Adam Lambert's cd and have been listening to it the past few days. I think that so far this is probably my favorite song on his cd
Time for Miracles
It's late at night and I can't sleep Missing you just runs too deep Oh I can't breathe thinking of your smile
Every kiss I can't forget This aching heart ain't broken yet Oh God I wish I could make you see 'Cause I know this flame isn't dying So nothing can stop me from trying
Baby you know that Maybe it's time for miracles 'Cause I ain't giving up on love You know that Maybe it's time for miracles 'Cause I ain't giving up on love No I ain't giving up on us
I just wanna be with you 'Cause living is so hard to do When all I know is trapped inside your eyes
The future I cannot forget This aching heart ain't broken yet Oh God I wish I could make you see 'Cause I know this flame isn't dying So nothing can stop me from trying
Baby you know that Maybe it's time for miracles 'Cause I ain't giving up on love You know that Maybe it's time for miracles 'Cause I ain't giving up on love No I ain't giving up on us
Baby can you feel it coming You know I can hear it hear all the souls Baby can you feel me feel you....
You know it's time....
Baby you know that Maybe it's time for miracles 'Cause I ain't giving up on love You know that Maybe it's time for miracles 'Cause I ain't giving up on love
You know Maybe it's time for miracles 'Cause I ain't giving up on love
No I ain't giving up love I aint giving up no no I ain't giving up on us

Thank you Chuck or do you prefer Clover?
Anyhoo, anytime you wanna step up to the mike go for it. I am very eclectic in my music taste as you can tell.....lol. Everyone has their favorite song choices and I love to discover new music....
Well this is a new song I have just recently heard... I love the guitar in it and in my personal opinion, I like the style in which she sings this song over the groups other ones.....enjoy!
The Only Exception - Paramore
When I was younger I saw my daddy cry And curse at the wind He broke his own heart And I watched As he tried to reassemble it
And my momma swore that She would never let herself forget And that was the day that I promised I'd never sing of love If it does not exist
But darling, You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception
Maybe I know, somewhere Deep in my soul That love never lasts And we've got to find other ways To make it alone Keep a straight face
And I've always lived like this Keeping a comfortable, distance And up until now I had sworn to myself that I'm Content with loneliness
Because none of it was ever worth the risk
Well, You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception
I've got a tight grip on reality But I can't Let go of what's in front of me here I know you're leaving In the morning, when you wake up Leave me with some kind of proof it's not a dream
Ohh---
You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception You, are, the only exception
And I'm on my way to believing Oh, And I'm on my way to believing

Another great choice. And call me Chuck, CloverSim is just a username I've been using for as long as I can remember. I'll suppose I'll contribute with a (somewhat) older song.
Break On Through (To The Other Side) - The Doors
You know the day destroys the night Night divides the day Tried to run Tried to hide Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side, yeah
We chased our pleasures here Dug our treasures there But can you still recall The time we cried Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side
Yeah! C'mon, yeah
Everybody loves my baby Everybody loves my baby She get(s high) She get(s high) She get(s high) She get(s high)
I found an island in your arms Country in your eyes Arms that chain Eyes that lie Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side Break on through, oww! Oh, yeah!
Made the scene Week to week Day to day Hour to hour The gate is straight Deep and wide Break on through to the other side Break on through to the other side Break on through Break on through Break on through Break on through Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

That's an awesome song choice Chuck. The Doors were an awesome band and had a very distinctive sound which no one can copy. Great song for your first step up to the mike! Whoo Hoo
