| Thank you for helping Mac with his query, Anna and Aaron.
Does anyone here have Christianlov's CPackEditor in their downloads folder? If so, would you be willing to package it up and share it with our Mac so he can make use of the Custom Skintone Selector?

| I may have it backed up, It might take a bit to find it though. Since I have back ups for TS2 going clear back to when it first came out(2004). Also from what I remember You don't need the CPackEditor unless You plan to edit his mod, Like adding other skintones besides EA/Maxis ones. CPackEditor is anther package editor primarily for making mods, Where as SimPe is a all in one package editor. Matter of fact SimPe most likely could be used in place of CPackEditor. | |

It's definitely not the same thing. The Christianlov skin changer is around 18K, the one you reference is around 29K. So they're obviously different. I'll try it, too.

Classic skintone changer (maxis light, medium, tan, dark, alien, zombie) you are probably looking for with some simmergirl's additions. Found under Miscellaneous (next to photo booth).

| Thanks, Aaroneous for the link. I had to disable McAfee's firewall to download it but then put the firewall right back up - you betcha! I was able to use it to link Christianlov's skintones selector to skins in my download folder, and everything has worked beautifully in my game. I think that simmergirl's version suggested by LoWiSa might have worked, too, but I didn't have the simmergirl skins in my downloads. Thanks to everybody who helped me out here! | |

| Christianlov's CPack Editor: http://modthesims.info/t/455557 (read last post) MTS is up now, so you can download their custom skintone selector. Hope I helped a bit.

| Hi LoWiSa, I was able to (thanks to Aaroneous) get a copy of CPackEditor, which worked perfectly with Christianlov's skin changer (which is the one on MTS2) , to allow me to include the custom skins I wanted. Helping me was a collaborative effort... You, Aaroneous, and Sugah. to all of you! mac | |

| Subject: Need help with warning from HoodChecker [Solved] Thu Jan 09, 2014 5:40 pm | |
| I have been searching for some time through the comments at MTS on Mootilda's HoodChecker. I am petrified of asking questions or making comments at MTS because I have seen Moderators rip people apart rather than be helpful. When I saw Mac's question here at Sugah's and all the kind and helpful answers, I thought maybe I could ask my question here. I found the Sims in SimPE and they are all dead ancestors of Sims that I am playing. Actually, they are listed twice in SimPE now. Once is the original Sim file with a thumbnail and the second is a listing that has a grey square, no thumbnail, not even the Potato Head. Is this something I need to worry about? If so, how can I fix it? | |

| Having duplicates like that would make me think that You moved the sims from one neighborhood to anther, Which has been known to cause the issue You're having. That or You have a poorly made cleaned neighborhood templates, Like say Pleasantview for instance.
If ether of those are the problem... Then there maybe no way to fix them. They both cause permanent damage to the neighborhood, Which far as I am aware of is irreversible.
Also if You're using any of the original Maxis\EA neighborhoods(which I think You are), Some of them have duplicate sims shipped with them. I can't say if they are dangerous or not.

| Thank you for your response!
Let me see, no I did not move sims from one 'hood to another. I have been using the Maxis 'hood as TS2 generated it, not sure how to clean it. I have been giving all the Maxis Sims a makeover.
BTW: I love, love, love your Sim Manipulator! A very superior product, lol.

| Subject: Having trouble launching Sims [Problem Solved...Locked!] Fri Jan 10, 2014 1:43 pm | |
| Hello ladies I don't know if you can help me, but I am unable to play my Sims game because the sims 2 launcher stopped working. I have to log on with Origin and when I went to there website for customer service help and the forums people are saying that they no longer can play there games. A lot of angry, angry people.
I haven't seen any news here on anyone having trouble playing there games. Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you very much, Debra

| Two things: Are you deleting the cache files? You'll find them in \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 - the two files are accessories.cache and groups.cache In particular, if groups.cache is there it may inhibit the startup - they'll be regenerated in the start process anyway. Caleb has a groups.cache file fix here
The other thing. Your desktop shortcut probably points to something like C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims2 Apartment Life\TSBin\Sims2Launcher.exe
"Program Files" might be "Program Files (x86)" if you're running Windows 7, and "The Sims2 Apartment Life" might not be your highest addition.
If it is, you should right-click the launch icon, scroll down to "Properties", then change the "Target" to "...\TSBin\Sims2EP8.exe".
If your highest update isn't Apartment Life, you'll have to look in the subdirectory corresponding to your expansion pack, and it would be "Sims2EPn.exe"
This will skip the opening screen where you have to click "Play" to get going and start your game loading directly. You really don't need the launcher.
If your highest expansion pack isn't Apartment Life, let me know what is and I can probably supply the n.

| Unfortunately running the game through the launcher no longer works since the server it connects to is no longer in existence. The only way around this issue is to use the game exe and not the launcher. To do that You need to change the shortcut You have for the game. Right click on the shortcut and then left click on properties, After that a new window should appear. In the window will be several tabs Your look for the one called Shortcut, The window should start on that tab. Once on the Shortcut tab look for the text Target, To the right of Target should be text similar to this "\Program Files\EA GAMES\Latest expansion or stuff pack\TSBin\Sims2Launcher.exe". You need to replace the text Sims2Launcher.exe with where the actual game exe is, To do that select the text Sims2Launcher.exe and replace it with Your newest Expansion stuff pack. To find which Expansion pack or Stuff pack is Your is newest game(by order of release), Usually when You play it will tell You what Your newest game is. Once You found out what Your newest game is replace the Sims2Launcher.exe text with one of the games below
Here is the list of all of the games exes Basegame Sims2.exe University Sims2EP1.exe Nightlife Sims2EP2.exe Happy Holiday Sims2SP1.exe Open for Business Sims2EP3.exe Family Fun Sims2SP2.exe Glamour Life Sims2SP3.exe Pets Sims2EP4.exe Seasons Sims2EP5.exe Celebration Sims2SP4.exe H&M Fashion Sims2SP5.exe Bon Voyage Sims2EP6.exe Teen Style Sims2SP6.exe Free Time Sims2EP7.exe Kitchen & Bath Sims2SP7.exe IKEA Home Sims2SP8.exe Apartment Life Sims2EP8.exe Mansion Garden Sims2EP9.exe
After that press the Apply button and the press the Ok button. From now on the game should run properly.
Also just to let You know EA has dropped all support for TS2, So You won't be getting help from them. Once other thing even though they dropped support for TS2 You will still be able to install and play any game purchased though Origin.
Edit: Odd the forum didn't even tell me someone else posted.

Nonni, I am so glad you do NOT feel that way HERE. I know exactly what you are talking about. I have been to other sites where there can be such attitude!!! I loathe it when Simmers are unkind or rude, impatient, intolerant and/ or even arrogant towards their fellow Simmers. We're all in this together, right? So, what's with the 'tudes??? I have always stressed that Sugah's Place will be a safe, comfortable haven for my fellow TS2 players/creators. It is my goal to make sure that never changes. Thank you, Aaron, for all of your help, ALWAYS. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and assisting our members as you do.

| @ Nonni Considering Your using the original EA/Maxis neighborhoods makes me think that's the way the neighborhood was shipped, Which wouldn't be the first time that happen. Still can't say if it's bad though. Also I looked at that image again... That memory that is popping up as bad is gossip and could cause trouble since it wasn't created correctly. Luckily gossip can be removed safely, There are several tools that can remove that gossip. There's Simpe's memory editor, BoilingOil's No Sim Loaded, and my mod the Memory Manipulator. I know the feeling about sites like that, I generally avoid sites like that unless there is a download I want. - Nonni wrote:

I think so too, But then again I am kinda biased . Don't get me wrong I loved the Insim at one time and even helped beta tested. But considering the issues that were never fixed with it, I want nothing to do with it.

| Debra - go with Aaroneous' explanation - that really covers the subject perfectly I hadn't realized that EA had shut down that server. Dirty pool! There are probably tens if not hundreds of thousands of Sims 2 players who have unwittingly given up. I had bypassed the launcher some time ago. I knew that EA wasn't supporting Sims2, but not that they had shut down the server! When maikki's game stopped working I got it up again by bypassing the launcher. (There really aren't enough nasty emoticons to describe EA's behavior!) | |

| I heard about people having problems on tumblr and saw where someone posted the work around there. I haven't had any problems with the launcher myself though. Do you think it could be because I don't have the latest EPs? Thanks for posting the instructions for us. I'm going to go ahead and bypass the launcher even though it's not causing me problems, I never cared for it anyway. It's just one extra click I have to do to start the game. One I sometimes forget about before I walk away while waiting for the game to load. | |

| Hmm the Launcher is working for You? That's odd to say the least . Maybe EA brought the servers back online, Either way I find it easier not having to deal with the launcher. Edit to add: I just some digging around it does appear the server that the launcher connects to is back up. While it no longer updates the news part of the launcher. But the images to the left of the news will update and display images from new Sims products. That's the part that can cause the launcher to crash, Apparently there is no way to fix it. Well unless of course You bypass the launcher | |
