| Great updates as always! Don't worry about not finishing your projects. We enjoy reading about whatever simming your doing, because your commentary is so fun to read. Didn't we start the prosperity challenge once before, maybe at Basic or even before that at PTS? I didn't get far with mine. I only had two families at first a pair of brothers and their wives and a grandmother with 6 or so grandkids. When I decided I needed to roll for another family I got another grandmother with a bunch of kids. They got kind of boring, but thinking back on them I really liked some of them. Maybe I'll have to play them again some day...
That hacked computer sounds really useful. Do you remember where you got it from? My sims never shop because I can't be bothered to take the time to go to community lots either.
I like the Cedar's living room and the house that Harry is designing. Very cool!
I think the genie lamp must be random. The last time I played I had a sim get one for the very first time! It was in a college dorm and I had to look through memories to find out who it belonged to.
Your sims are all gorgeous. Wouldn't it figure, the family you want to keep small gets the triplets. Isn't that always the way? I have that hack too, but haven't had any triplets or quads yet. I'm sure it will happen when I least want it to. It looks like your sims are getting along great. I look forward to seeing how they continue to progress.

| Thanks for all the feedback, guys! I appreciate you reading and sharing my sim adventures with me. It is much more fun that way. Em - I remember you having a grandma with a bunch of kids. Most of the families that rolled up I kept as isl, though I did reroll one because if I didn't, my neighborhood would have been mostly elders. There's nothing wrong with that, but I wanted some more variety because it makes things more interesting for me. And that keeps me playing. I haven't played that much lately, but here are the latest screenshots I took. The Beech triplets all cluster into the bathroom at the same time. Two of the babies wander into mom and dad's room while they're busy. Too bad there isn't a lock option to keep children out. Over at the Oak house, poor Aerie gets fired. But it didn't take her long to get back into the field. Her LTW is to be a Criminal Mastermind. Her husband had it worse, though. He searched for his dream job since he was a teen. Finally a spot opened up as a dancer, and the poor guy got fired on his first day. A picture of Kelly and Aerie Oak. They have tried 4 times to get pregnant. Nothing yet. I have no pictures of Harrison and Ashlee, but life goes on for them. They're both climbing their career ladders and spiffing up their house. They've also tried several times to get pregnant with no luck. Esmerelda Oak is getting really old. Her time will come during her next rotation. I wanted to make sure her affairs were in order, so she sold her cat to her granddaughter, Ashlee. The cat liked her best of both her and her brother, Kelly, lol. At the Dogwood house: Eve plays in the tub. Her time has come, but she has no regrets. She died in gold aspiration. Looks like Rosalyn is pregnant. Shortly before Eve's death, I moved Rosalyn's love interest, Austin, into the household. He's a romance sim, but I'm too lazy to let him ho around, so I'll be skirting the wants that roll up for woohooing other women. He managed not to have a fear of getting engaged/married, so I jumped on that and he and Rosalyn tied the knot. He has bad memories of it, lol. But it surprised me that they were trying for baby on their own since he's a romance sim. I let them go to see what would happen, and they got pregnant on their 3rd or so try. The first offspring of the second generation, Hunter Beech, grows into a child. Mother, Allyson, has had a second baby, Hannah. She continues to work towards her LTW of being a Captain Hero, when she's not pregnant, that is, lol. Lane continues to do great in his job in the science field. He is my most successful sim of this challenge. I don't think he's made a single bad move in his career, and has climbed steadily up the ladder unhindered. Too bad he has one of those stupid lifetime wants of being best friends to 20 animals. Who the hell made up that want in the first place? It's ridiculous to have a sim with a popularity aspiration to want to do nothing but hang around with animals all day. And speaking of stupid wants/fears, Allyson actually rolled up a fear of being enemies with her infant daughter. What? She's an infant. That's it for now. I just made an interesting discovery. I typed in the word w.h.o.r.e. (without the periods) and the forum changed it to ho. | |

Ugh. What a bummer. That's a shame Aerie and Kelly have so much trouble having a baby. It kind of makes it more interesting to have a childless couple, instead of each couple getting pregnant right away. Are you leaving it totally up to them for whether they try to get pregnant or not? - Quote :

| UGH! I'm so behind here, Ari! Please forgive me. You've been so wonderful about sharing what's been going on in your game. Thank you, my friend. I will probably not be able to catch up and comment completely this evening, but will do my best by you. Love the Dogwoods. They look totally cool. The Cedars are fabulous looking, too, dahling...AND their gorgeous living room. Thank you for using my walls and for sharing the screenshots. I love it! I totally enjoyed meeting your beautiful & interesting challenge fams. And, as always, your unique names ROCK! Thank you for sharing the rules with us, btw. That was a lot for you to type out and I appreciate it! - Quote :

All part of your charm, dear lady! We know that and love that about you! (And when I played, I found myself guilty of the same exact thing. ) - Quote :
- I decided to try again to get Rosalyn into private school. Success! I really think some of the headmasters are easier to please than others.
If that's the case, then I've gotten every nasty fat, balding, difficult, puffed up, pain in the arse, piece of work headmaster possible. I've had the WORST luck with them, as you know. I SUCK at it, even when I follow the advise you've given me in the past! Anyhoo, I am happy you've been successful with it. Was it the pork chops, dahling? Those cats on the couch with the elf were a hoot! Too funny! WOW! Harry's house is freakin' awesome! He has a gift, my friend. Thank you so much for sharing your Prosperity Challenge families. I truly enjoyed looking at all of your fabulous screenshots and reading your witty, creative commentaries, as always. It is always such a joy to have you here with us, dear Ari.

And please forgive my shortness in posting, but my joints are sore and unfortunately this is the last board I've checked this evening. I've met my quota of long paragraphs and typing.
I will say this. You are amazingly creative and have such wonderful imagination Ari. Your families are so lovely to see and read about.
I love your gusto for trying challenges - even ones that have long, drawn out and sometimes difficult rules. It was neat to read about and get to know your families. The Maple family really caught my eye though, because what a struggle Jenna must have!
I look forward to more Ari and seeing how everything comes along. As always, beautiful screen shots - and excellent writing and description.
Now.......I have to try this freakinfrack'ing thing out. Does this freakinfrack'ing forum really edit our freakinfrack'ing words out? I hope not, kaka. I love to swear!!!

| Thank you for your comments, Em. I definitely think it will be interesting to see if I end up with couples who don't have children. But I might be unable to stop myself from making them procreate since I love the gene combining aspect of this game. Since both of these couples - Kelly/Arie and Harrison/Ashlee - are actually *trying* to get pregnant, I will leave them be...for now, lol. In the case of Carter and Jenna, however, I let them have 3 free woohoos and they didn't even try - so I made them pregnant. And then they had triplets. I guess they showed me! Thank you, Ulli. Yes, the triplets are quite a handful, but growing well. Sugah - well, you've been kinda busy, so I'll forgive you...this time. I am quite pleased with the Cedar's living room - I just love the way that dark carpet looks with your pretty walls. The colors go well together and the carpet pulls out the darker colors in the wall. - Sugah wrote:

Aw, thanks, sweetie. I guess I'm not the only one, eh? So many sims, so little time... Yes, the headmasters are tricky, but I'm usually successful with them, but once in awhile I blow it and I watched closely. The first headmaster had negative reaction to everything that was said - but the second seemed a little more friendly. And I wouldn't have bothered except I really wanted that aspiration boost before Rosalyn grew up. The pork chops (or anything that requires level 5 cooking skill and above) is recommended. I think one of the times I cooked lobster, and another....uh...well I can't remember, but it required at least a 5 to make, lol! Thank you for the compliments on Harry's house. He's gotten awesome reviews here, which I've passed along to him. He continues to work on it in his free time, and I'll be sure to share it when he's done. - Sugah wrote:

| I had a little play time last week. Hannah Beech grows into a child. That's a cute picture, but can we get the baby to look at the camera? Very nice. Wait a minute. Allyson, your eyes are closed. One more, please. Perfect! Cut! Print! It's a wrap! Allyson: "Are we done, yet??" Over at the Cedar house... Julianna invites Cary over. Originally I had intended Cary to end up with Tia, Julianna's daughter. But they only had 1 bolt of chemistry, despite the fact that I tried to tailor them for each other. Julianna and Cary have 2 bolts. And I have to confess that I like Julianna more. Tia kind of bores me for reasons unknown. So Tia moves out. You might say things are going quite swimmingly. Shortly after their tryst in the hot tub, Cary moves in. Soon after that, Lorrie's time came. And then Odessa's. They were both in gold aspiration and had happy lives. Cary needs to make friends for Julianna's climb up the top of the SCIA job. Tia took several of the family friends with her when she left, so the family needs to make seven more friends. Oy vey. With a capital Oy. Anyhoo, Cary grabs the first guy off the street and invites him to a game of chess. Cary sulked at this, being a playful, active sim. Check him out. He's so cute when he pouts. Cary is not a nice sim. In fact, somehow he ended up with 0 nice points. I made him as a toddler in CAS, and I picked one of the normal astrological signs, so I'm not really sure what happened. I pretty sure I didn't shuffle any of his points around. He also has 0 outgoing points. Here, he cheats at chess. Cary: "See? I told you I didn't want to play chess. Ha ha ha." Obviously, the guy was impressed with Cary's conversational and playing skills, and offered him a job in the Slacker career field. Cary had a job in Athletics, but he'll be ending up staying home to care for the little ones when they start coming, so career isn't important to him. He accepted the job. That's as far as I got the last time I played. | |

| Sorry for the delay in commenting on your posts. I mentioned to Sugah in an e-mail that I think I really must be a fairy because I flit from one thing to another and rarely finish anything. SIGH. And I've been up to something in the background...which I'll tell you about in a minute. But first: Thank you, Sugah! The cheating at chess cracks me up. And Cary is SOO gorgeous I could take a million pictures of him doing it, lol. He may not be very nice, but he must be charming because he seemed to impress the guy he was playing with. He must be one of those guys with natural luck or something. The pics of the Beech girls cracked me up. I was just trying to get the perfect baby shot - I knew Hannah was tired, but didn't think a pic or two would hurt. As soon as I got the one I wanted she burst out into tears and Allyson made that face. So I had to snap that, too! Yeah, Tia. Not sure what I'll do with her yet. I don't think I'll let her reproduce. She's Popularity (or Fortune - I forget) with a secondary of Knowledge, so I don't see a family in her future. I may move her into the Oak house where Esmerelda ages quickly. Perhaps Tia will buy the house when it is empty (to avoid the 20k move in money.) Nonni - aw, thanks! Your kind words are a joy to read. I'm glad you're enjoying my sims' comings and goings and hope you continue to do so. Even though I change my mind so much. Ok so...I've actually played my prosperity challenge for quite awhile - long enough to grow all the toddlers into adults who have found mates to make lives with. I am not giving up on them or abandoning them, and will return to them sometime. But, I've uh...started a new project. I know, I know. I just can't help myself. This one I've actually thought about for over 2 years, but because of the heavy downloading involved, decided it would be too much work to set up. But then I had an idea. Since my computer is fairly new, and I only had one account on it, WHAT IF I made a second account and turned my game into a total medieval experience? I've always wanted to use medieval defaults, but it would look weird for modern day sims. So my second account will be for my medieval themed game. And if I ever pick up my WWC story again (very possible!) - this would be the perfect setting. I have found medieval defaults for almost everything in the game, from everyday things like dishes, cleaning sponges, kids' homework, to carpools, neighborhood vehicles, roads, and NPC's. I've been working on this for nearly a week and finally have everything I need/want to start The Royal Kingdom Challenge I'm getting such a huge tickle to see the service sims pulling up in their carts with the custom horse and buggy sounds. And just wait until you see the school bus! I have made my king and queen and played them for half a day. I'll do the same for my other families to get them settled in before I start the official rotation. I joined the yahoo group for the most updated rules, and they get quite exhaustive. However, you can always bend them to suit your play style. I've got my own additions and exclusions that I will play by. Here is a quick pic I snapped so I could share with Sunni from MTS2 how I got her dirt road working. You can take a look at them here This is my medieval default gardener in her horse drawn cart on the dirt road in front of the castle (that I downloaded). King and Queen Dragonhold (name subject to change) live here in the Kingdom of Dragonfae. YAY! I was playing with the idea of adding a random event calendar each rotation to see if something bad happened to one of the residents or families. It sounds mean, but would make for a very interesting and hard life which would fit since this is the dark ages. Not sure if I'm going to or not. It would be awesome to do for storytelling - the story would unfold itself right before you while you played. But I don't know if I'm hard edged enough to kill off sims because their number comes up on the roll of a die. Perhaps for now, they will be free from sickness and whatnot - but that's not a guarantee that they will stay that way! If anyone is interested, I'll introduce my families. If not, I'll just snap a pic or two here and there. I will have the royal family (the queen is already pregnant, by the way - huzzah!), 3 noble families, 2 merchant families, and 3 peasant families (the max the challenge calls for). Sorry to switch gears on you guys so fast (AGAIN) but once I get an idea in my head it literally gnaws at me until I act on it. Like I've said in the past, I think my muse is retarded. | |

| Sounds really neat, Ari. I remember you (or one of us at one of the forums posting a link to this challenge before) and I thought it sounded really fun then, but I got overwhelmed by the rules and set up. Let me know how you like it. I think I'd like to try it sometime (like I don't have enough projects and real life stuff going on..) How do you determine how many sims are in the family to start with? Is it random or are there specifications? I think it's very cool that you've got all medieval defaults. Using a separate account sounds like a great way to do it. I've been doing a random event calendar in one of my hoods, but I have it set up with a lot of lighthearted events as well as negative things. I tried to minimize the death options, because I'm not sure if I would be hard enough to go through with it if it rolled up, especially if it's a sim I'm really attached too. This kind of challenge is a good setting for it though, to make it more realistic with the times. There's a program to generate random events from MATY. I downloaded it and it's a lot of fun. You just set it up as lists in a notepad file and then drag and drop the notepad file into the random stuff program. It's really easy and you can set it up for anything, like random personalities or aspirations. If you decide to do random events, I'd recommend looking into that program. Oh, and I'd love to meet your families and hear about what they get up to. I enjoy hearing about whatever sims your playing for whatever time period you're interested in playing them. | |

| Thank you, Em. The set up is really time consuming, but it's so exciting seeing all of my medievaly defaults taking place. It will really help me escape to the time period and believe I'm there. Most of my defaults I've gotten from here and here Hat has 11 parts to his/her defaults and is still currently working on this project. He/she is also working on a newspaper too. YAY! The rest of my stuff - like medieval recolors for mailboxes, etc. I got from MTS2' Dark Project. And I wouldn't be bothering with it if I hadn't really wanted to experience a completely medieval game, lol. I would be eternally grateful if you could point me closer to the location of that random event generator - I browsed maty for quite awhile last night and couldn't seem to find it. I agree there should be some good events, too, or some neutralish ones and have found a generator for such here. But I would love to see the one you're talking about. I thought I'd give everyone a free round before the chaos starts (how ever I finally decide to introduce it) since it's just the beginning and there aren't any kids yet, just couples. The rules state that you start with 1 Royal family, up to 3 Noble families, up to 2 Merchant families, and up to 3 Peasant families. In addition you can have a town witch/wizard, a nunnery or abbey to send all the non heirs that you don't want to marry, and a gypsy camp for sims who are fallen (like alien kids, werewolves, etc.) There are wide scoping rules (if you join the group you can gain access to them) that cover just about everything, but you don't necessarily have to play that way. You can tailor the rules to your own wants, game style, etc. It gets really in depth with things like arranged marriages and dowries, etc. but it confuzzles my little brain to keep track of it all so I'll have to just do what works for me. I figure this will be a very long project, so not one I'm going to finish in a week or so. It's actually more like a different way to play the game, rather than a challenge. I even have a tax mod that I'm going to try out so all the subjects can pay taxes to the royal house. That's here if you want to take a look at it. This sounds like a lot of fun for me, and I know I'll want to share pictures of my shiny new defaults. Glad there's someone out there to look at them, lol! | |

What a brilliant idea! New account, one exclusive theme ... I love it!!! What a great lot that is! SIMply awesome to look at, lady! This challenge does have a lot of rules to read through and the set up sounds like quite a lot of work, but... I can see how much fun this would be inevitably...especially since you tailor the specifics to your liking. I might steal your idea and create an account exclusively for beach attire, beach themed downloads & beach (BV) lots. The possibilities are endless. Let's face it! Can't wait to meet the royal family of Dragonfae. Thank you for sharing, m'lady.

| Well... I got some bad news, some pics to share, and some more bad news. The first bit of bad news. I was mistaken in how thoroughly I backed up my stuff - I somehow overlooked one of my sims games (I have games on 2 different accounts). I went looking for one of my games - my modern one, to reinstall it on my secondary account only...I couldn't find it. I did finally find it, but the date I last backed it up is May. Which means I lost all of my prosperity sims! Lane, Julianna, Cory, Rosalyn, the triplets - are...all...gone. Also, though I still have the Asylum I started, I've lost whatever progress I've made since May - I'm not exactly sure how much that is - but I know I'd have to backtrack quite a bit so I probably will no longer play/share them. I'm still recovering from that. Also, my game is suddenly crashing. I think it has something to do with Windows auto updater and not the game itself, though I'm not entirely certain. I'll be checking into that to see what the hell is up with that. It's just been one of those days...ya know? Actually, pretty much the whole week has been like this. Okay - enough with the bad stuff - on with the piccies of what I've been up to. Meet King Jonah and Queen Aluna of Dragonfae. Aluna is actually my Nikki and Jonah is...my Jonah. Royalty and Nobles are allowed to own servos. This beautiful replacement mesh is made by Amaryll, and the gorgeous polished wood skin is made by Almighty Hat. Hat is responsible for supplying nearly all of my everyday defaults, which you'll see later. I've never played much with the servos before because I found them so unappealing. But this one changes everything. Isn't she beautiful? The picture really doesn't do her justice, though, because that high gloss finish is so incredible to see in game. Every move she makes is mesmerizing to watch as the light plays off the wooden surface. Just because servo is a robot, doesn't mean she can't make mistakes. And just because this is the Royal house, doesn't mean that chaos spares them. This is a bad shot, but necessary to see all that is going on at once. Servo started a kitchen fire, while the pregnant queen yaks up her dinner. And all the while, the king is not bothered enough to even pause in his meal. The fire brigade, wooden extinguisher at the ready, rushes in to save the day. The king playing on his royal computer. And talking on his royal phone. Pretty nifty, eh? Thanks goes to Hysterical Paroxysm at MTS2. The king talks to his unborn baby. Queen Aluna is clothed in maternity defaults that were sadly not updated for AL. These are the same defaults I used in BLD which looked spectacular - now they look muddy and her neck and head have weird shadings (you can't see that here, though). I guess servos like to talk to pregnant bellies, too. Just pretend the queen has medieval preggie jammies. Welcome Princess Francesca. No heir yet. Maybe we should call her Princess Bigmouth. Other families to come later. When I figure out what the heck is going on and can play some more. | |

| Ari, I'm sorry about all you've lost. You know I can empathyze with you, since I am starting from scratch, too, this past month. Have you discovered what's been causing your game to crash, since you last posted? I do hope you get it figured out, my friend. - Quote :

I am wishing you better days ahead, Lady A. That being said... Your king and queen are GORGEOUS! I am so in love with Nikki. She looks amazing as Queen Aluna and is really rockin' that hairstyle. WOW!!! That servos is really a trip to look at. I have no experience with servos in game. You've found so many fascinating downloads. I'm lovin' that fire fighter in the medieval wear with the wooden extinguisher. The phone, puter and baby bottle you found, not to mention the gorgeous royal wardrobe...ALL fabulous, dahling!!! - Quote :

This is so great, Ariana. Thank you for sharing!!!

| Oh Jeez Ari! I'm so sorry for the things that you've lost. That sucks terribly. I've done that before - and it just stinks to high heaven! On the good side - I concur with Sugah. Your king and queen are GORGEOUS! And just as gorgeous as your king and queen are - your servo is creepy! Princess Big Mouth is also an appropriate name from what I can see. You create such lovely and unique Simmies Ari - and your tales are thoughtful, fun and creative. | |
