I know it's always been of interest to her.

I'm runnin' on only 5 hours sleep after a full day out with my oldest, so I am not going to try and read them right now , but they might be worth a look, Cher.

On Lover's Day, Jonah bought a little cake and finally proposed to Alyssa.
It seems apparent why.    She happily accepted.



A day later, she gave birth to Julia. Another girl for Sugah's Pleasantview!



Julia looks a lot like Nick, but then Alyssa and Jonah look a lot alike.
I'll probably have to look at them in SimPE in order to see whose skin and eyes they inherited.
Since the hair is binned, and this first generation of Sims has no recessives, I'm going to guess Julia's hair will be brown.

Yay! They make such a cute couple! I can't wait to watch their family grow!

Seeing my stuff in your game is such a thrill for me, as you know, and I truly appreciate your support.  

I know how the eye/hair/skin color genetic work. The article Sugah linked to explains it well. I never knew much about how facial structure was inherited in the sims. I seem to remember reading that gender might have something to do with how certain facial features are passed on, but I'm not sure. I've never looked at the code in simPE, beyond using it to change default eye colors to custom ones before I discovered default replacements.

I thought it would be fun to use a lot of Sugah's Place CC for my décor, and it is. I get a kick out of seeing it in my game. After all, it is Sugah's Pleasantview. Em, I read the articles in the link last night. If I understand it right: Everything we're using is custom content, therefore it's equally dominant (except for binned hair). The first generation has no recessives, so there's a 50/50 chance of skin and eye color coming from either parent. The hair (so far) is binned, so it will follow the general rule of black and brown being dominant over blonde and red. All of Jonah and Alyssa's children will have brown hair, but may have a recessive gene for red (which means I need to get some more redheads in my game!). If the hair is not binned and is in the Custom section, it will be dominant (that one specific hair will be what's inherited). The game randomly (?) assigns dominant facial features to the first generation sims, and the combination of genes inherited will determine which features are dominant and recessive with the offspring.

Sounds fair to me that since it's her money, she gets to decide. He doesn't strike me as one who would have strong opinions on the matter one way or another, as long as his needs are met and he's not paying the bill.

Sounds like you have the genetics right to me. Except that all of Alyssa and Jonah's kids will carry the recessive gene for red hair, so if they marry someone with red or blonde hair (or who has a recessive gene for red or blonde) there's a chance that they might have red haired children.

I downloaded some additional Sims yesterday, most with red or blonde hair, to ensure I will eventually see some offspring with those colors.

lol, Cher.  I have a tendency to lean toward darker sims (medium-dark skin and black hair).  This time around, though, I have a lot of blondies, several dark and no reds.  

We don't live in a flood zone, Cher, but there are many folks all over the state who have been seriously hammered or washed away by extreme flooding.
The death toll continues to rise and there doesn't seem to be an end to the rain.

I'm glad to hear you're in a safe area, Sugah. I haven't been following the news at all lately, but I did see what happen to catch what was going on in your area on the news last night and thought of you and my dad's aunt who lives in that region too. The pictures looked devastating.

Add me to that list too. I have way too many black haired, light skinned sims in my group. All of my offspring except one have black hair (including the two that inherited an oddly colored hair that was binned as black) and for a lot of them both parents had black hair, so there isn't much hope of me seeing any recessive genes showing up in the next generation. Maybe I should have chosen more deliberately.

In my case, I never even thought about the hair/skin/eye colors being passed on.  
I had a few couples in Tres Lagos already in love before the project, that were a perfect fit for it.
And several I downloaded (your Will, my Anaïs & Elle's Kimberly) were among my all time faves, which is why I chose them.
I found another of yours yesterday that I absolutely love (and had forgotten about, as you gifted her to us back during our 3rd SP anniversary), but she's a dark-haired Sim, too!  
I don't care, btw. She's still movin' into the 'hood and going to share her gorgeous genetics with some verrrrry lucky fella.  

Jonah and Alyssa make such a cute couple and Julia is a cutie!

I actually did try to pay attention to hair colors when I downloaded the first set of Sims, but I was also trying to pay attention to eye color and creators. I messed it up a bit with my pairings, which I realized will make it hard to get redheads at all (with only one redhead in the first generation), and also not easy to get blondes . My next batch will help mix things up, but I didn't get as many creators involved that time. There are several Sims I really want in my game, but I want to wait because they all have dark hair! I'm also trying to pick Sims that I'm not seeing much of in the other threads.

I, too, wanted a mix of different creators' Sims, which is why I am hoping to find a couple of blonds & redheads by Jen or Ari next.
(I've already used three of Toni's, one of Elle's, one of Ulli's, one of Em's and two of mine.)

I was on a mission to get more redheads and blondes, and still ended up with a brunette because I couldn't resist her (Ember). I've tried multiple times, but I cant' seem to get the link to Tawny posted without including some nonsense like the [/url] that's in front of it.  

I'm didn't do the best job of diversifying creators with this batch. I'm not sure why. I'll post their pictures when I update with their activities.

Thank you so much for choosing three of my sims for your project (and your sweet comment about Ember).  I wouldn't be offended if you wanted to change her hair to red, though.

Sandy, Marshall definitely resembles his dad more at this point. He has Patrick's hair, skintone, nose, and eyebrows. His eyes are green like Kelly's. Forest also has Kelly's eyes, and Patrick's skintone and hair. I'm not sure about his facial features, though. Both Marshall and Forest have aged up with longish, somewhat shaggy hair.
