I am pretty sure You wouldn't be able to doing thing with the founding sims of each family. Put simply most came stripped of most of their data(I assume You're talking about the dead sims), About the only thing left is their picture and an ID number. Unless You were to create Your own versions of them.

As for editing terrains, You need Sim City 4(either version) to edit or create terrains. If You need help with the terrain, Let me know I have a copy of Sim City 4 around and have been creating terrains.

That's exactly what the creator of this hood did; she created them using the ancestry info and probably the descendant dna too.

Hi Tim,

I had a few minutes and saw this so.....

You can use SimPe to extract those dead and gone and then use body shop to revamp them. You cannot change the roads unless you want to use SC4 to create Pleasantview over and over again for play, however there is a site that has completely cleaned up Maxis hoods from Sims 2. Look on Mara's blog for the links. You can also use the sims wiki for all the important info to get it right. If I can help, just let me know. I am busy as you know, but I will do what I can.

Here is the link for Mara and I think for the clean Maxis hoods.

More Awesome Than You

Clean Maxis Hoods

Meet me to the river has extracted sims too. I can also extract sims.

Hope this helps.

Hugs,

SS

Thank you all! Most appreciated!

Not sure I want to do this just yet, but it is something that I would like to think about...

Aaron, I do have SC4, will it edit Pleasantview or do I have to build a Pleasantview from scratch?

Will have to give this some thought...depending on how 'far' back it goes, technology wise, would have to replace cars and stuff with some kind of other models to reflect older tech...horse and buggy, horse drawn wagon of some sort for deliveries...

Gah! I think I am scaring myself away! lol

Oh Aaron! I finally remembered something I wanted to ask you...

Do you know if this exists already or if not if you can make a mod for the game...

Simple mod idea - Household is sound asleep, baby wakes up and starts crying...Mod switches time from fast time back to normal time so if you are not paying enough attention, you will have time to wake a Sim up to go take care of the baby before the Social Worker shows up!

PostSubject: Re: Archived SOLVED Requests and Queries   Archived SOLVED Requests and Queries - Page 39 EmptyThu Mar 14, 2013 11:27 pm

You would have to create a new neighborhood and make it use the terrain You want(Which should be an option when You create the neighborhood). If want to edit the Pleasantview terrain go to My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/SC4Terrains and find the file Pleasantview.sc4, Then copy it to My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions/Downloads. After that fire up SC4 and choose the smallest possible city size(it's the only size TS2 can use), When You click on the city there should be an option to import a city. Choose that option, If everything went right You should be able to find Your terrain in that menu. After that You should be able enter the city and see the Pleasantview terrain without any houses. But all roads, stop lights, and stop sign should still be there. When done altering the terrain just copy the SC4 file back to SC4Terrains in TS2, I would highly recommended renaming the terrain so it doesn't overwrite the original one. Beware there are a few things to watch out for, For one TS2 can only use SC4's basic roads(anything else won't work). Secondly while not a big deal the map from SC4 will be a mirrored version of the map in TS2, Like for instance if the SC4's map had a coastal area on the left side of the map. It would be on the right side of the map for TS2.

I have never heard of such a mod, But I probably could cook something for it. I'll will do some playing around with the idea and let You know what happens.

PostSubject: Help! Need Tutorial for Recoloring Objects.   Archived SOLVED Requests and Queries - Page 39 EmptyThu Mar 21, 2013 2:30 pm

Hello All,

I have looked all over for a tutorial that isn't 10 years old on how to recolor curtains and have found nothing I can use, not even on MTS. I failed twice to do them properly last night, however I did learn how to recolor clothes, even the one's some think are difficult. I still have yet to recolor furniture, or curtains, or recolor bedding. I have created lipstick but not blush or eyeshadow or eyeliner, or recolored eyes and so on. I do make floors and sims. I have not done a wall yet. I am very, very late to this party and there just seems to be no people left at all willing to show someone new how to do this stuff. I know how to work will layer's like raster's and vector's and so on, but I have forgotten most of it. I suppose you could say I am frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will continue today to search for more tutorials to help myself. I work with paint shop pro 7, which does what any other program can do.

Thank you all,

Hugs,

SS

SS, what program are you using to recolor curtains: SimPE (for CC recolors) or Wizards of SimPE (for Maxis recolors)?
It doesn't matter if the tutorials are a few years old, the programs are the same as we used back then.
It sounds as though you have experience recoloring BodyShop items (clothes & lipstick) mostly?

HERE is a very easy tutorial for recoloring using SimPE.
It has plenty of images, too, if you're a visual learner.
HERE is another easy tutorial for recoloring objects using Wizards of SimPE, also with images.

Hi Sugah,

I use SimPe and Wizards of SimPe and Paint Shop Pro 7. The clothing recolors are my first ever. You are the very first to see them besides myself.
I made 1 lipstick that was very good a few months ago, so I kept it and trashed the others and there were others. lol

Thank you for the tutorials.

Let me know if those tutorials work for you.
Also, what happened with the two attempts @ recoloring curtains?
Perhaps I can help.

If you have any questions when making another attempt, I will try to help you, if possible.
I'll be curious to learn whether the tutorials I posted for you were a bit better than the others you've found.
If not, there are many, many more out there to choose from. Archived SOLVED Requests and Queries - Page 39 584675

Thank you Lady Sugah!!!

I am going to go and check those out. I stopped to create a new sim and to recolor her hair, nails and so on to turn her into a mermaid. lol I hope I can recolor other things and then in the short future create my own meshes. I used to create things with poser and to me, it's basically the same thing. We shall see. Thank you for your help and if I can't get it to work I will be right here asking for you. lol

Sugah,

Is there someone here that would write a tutorial on recoloring curtain's? It is better for me if we are just talking about curtains. I'm sorry, it's just how I learn.

It doesn't matter what the object, actually. All of the procedures are exactly the same, regardless of whether you're recoloring curtains or a couch or wall decor.
Which curtains are you trying to color? CC or Maxis?
What problems are you specifically having? Perhaps I can assist you, SS.
I believe, except for Ulli who recolors Maxis items, I am the only CC recolorist here at SP, FYI. Archived SOLVED Requests and Queries - Page 39 584675

Hi Sugah,

They are the veil of dreams curtains and there are a set of lace ones. I don't have pictures though. So, I can't tell which ones. Let me try the first tutorial and see if I can just follow with curtains instead of the thing they are recoloring. I know to use the open button if it's CC and the start if it's Maxis. It's funny I am having such trouble with little curtains and not other recolors. lol

I shall return with either nothing or curtains. lol

Okay. Good luck!
Just out of curiosity, what recolors have you been successful with so far?
You'd mentioned only the curtains are giving you problems.
That's rather curious.

Hi Sugah,

I can do clothes and hair. I do that with my paint program and body shop though. I also create paintings using SimPe and Photo Studio. The list is growing. lol When I do create a successful curtain recolor, I am going to post it. lol

Just changing the colors/hues of objects (whether clothing, hair, curtains, etc), is a wee bit different than photoskinning or experimenting with textures/fabrics, etc.
I checked one of the lacy curtain Maxis meshes and didn't like it.
They aren't as recolor-friendly as some CC ones are.

The game finally showed the curtains I did yesterday in SimPe and today in WOS. They turned out lovely except for the lace ones that you mentioned. They look fuzzy to me. I am about to go and load the pictures to show you here and then you can lock this if you like. Thank you Sugah. I did however find a tutorial using WOS that is really great. By that time though I had realized I had created curtains and thought they had not worked. lol

Hugs,

SS

Before you ask...... lol

Here is the tutorial I found: WOS Tutorial

Edit: Here are some of the curtains I did.

There you go Sugah. I was late getting them over here. I was helping Lucia with her game and I was working. So, here they are and the lace ones, we won't talk about those. They looked like they were made of fur. lol I should have used a lighter color on those, but these are really nice. I used SimPe for these and the others I did yesterday, I used WOS.

Hugs,

SS

So glad you found a Wizards of SimPE tutorial that worked for you.
It's quick, simple and painless. Good one!

I think tutorials are very personal. Not all work for every one of us.
I had to search high and low for a SimPE tutorial I could actually comprehend.
There are many out there for both Wizards and SimPE, but most of the tutorials confused me.

I'll wait til you post an image of the curtains you recolored, then will lock up this thread. Archived SOLVED Requests and Queries - Page 39 584675

Hi Sugah,

I did post them, they are on the page before this one. You didn't see them? There are blue ones and pink ones. They are short and long Maxis recolors.
