| I have the same problem trying to get it to work in IE(not sure what version I have as I never really use it..i think it came with the computer) I always use Google Chrome or Firefox. Google Chrome is my number one browser. I only use Firefox for some sites that don't support Chrome like Peggy Zone. | |

| I agree that changing is hard. I still use IE most of the time, until I want to post a picture or use a smiley here, then I have to change. Maybe someday I'll get in the habit of using Firefox first, instead. | |

| I did it!!! I just did my first object recolor!!! It's the Sacred Star wall hang in a lovely light blue. Now. I have another question. How do I go about packaging this up so I can share with others? I would love to start uploading my content to my own personal Dreamwidth journal. This whole "Creating" thing is lost on me as I've always just been on the receiving end of the custom content world. Never the giving end. | |

| CONGRATS, Bwin! WAY TO GO!!! You did a terrific job on Sacred Star. Did the tutorial and our advice help at all? Did you find it easy using Wizards of SimPE? All I do to package my Maxis recolors up is: Copy and paste to desktop (from my downloads folder), then compress it using Winzip. Name the zip file (usually something like Sugah_BlueSacredStar). Upload it to a file storage site (Box.com or Mediafire.com). Then, just share the link to your download on your Dreamwidth journal. I've checked your site out, btw! Like what you've done so far! Keep up the good work and | |

I think I just may do that, Mac!!!

Did you find it easy using Wizards of SimPE?... The advice and the tutorials were tons of help. I'm going to keep referring to them until I get comfortable enough with everything. I'm so excited that I got this recolor working! It looks so nice in game, as well. - Sugah wrote:

Okay awesome. I'm going to make a few more recolors first and then package them all up and offer them for download on my journal! I love that I can say that now lol Aw and thanks, Sugah, I'm glad you like my journal. It's pretty bare right now and I'm still discovering how to customize it and really make it nice. I'm trying to figure out how to make a cover photo*shrugs* so we'll see. --- They are now available on my journal :D Now I have another question. I want to try recoloring a maxis couch. I'm a little confused about how you recolor things with textures, though. How exactly is this played out? I'm really sorry for all these questions but recoloring is completely new to me.

| Wow Bwinn that looks great! Good job on your first try! I hate to say that I have just started to recolor on this project but with the storms this past weekend i didn't get started on this like i would have loved to do. but anyway I have started late and so far i'm liking the textures used. i'll try to fire up the game and get some pics and give you a idea of what they look like. | |

It's perfectly okay! That's what this Q & A section is for ... To ask questions! Recoloring using textures is not much different from just changing color hues. You find a fabric you like (Google "fabric online" eg). Make sure you can size it per the mesh (so as not to distort it), then copy & paste it on the mesh. Merge the image, then save & name it, as usual. Have you searched for a Wizards tutorial (recoloring using textures) per chance? I know that sounds rather concise. If it isn't much help, I will try to get some "print screens" and do a little tutorial for you, if time allows this week. We have our update on Saturday so I'm knee deep in creating, testing, snapping screenshots, packaging & uploading at the moment! - BL wrote:

Here's a little preview picture of what I have in the makes. Atomicles Couch I'm a sucker for paisley. It's probably one of my favorite fabric patterns. ^_^

| Hey, look at you!!! WOOT! You are really getting this Maxis recoloring business down, girlfriend!!! PS If you'd like, I shall send you some of my paisley fabric through email. Do you still have the same email addy? If not, PM me your new one, Bwin, and I'll see what I can put together for you. I think I've got about 25 textures in my paisley folder you can have.

I'd be happy to share my paisley stash with you, Bwin. Do I have your correct email? The one I used to correspond with you at? If you have a new one, PM it to me. I will send you what I've got straight away. - Quote :
- The only thing I want to figure out is how to lay the texture over it without it covering up the buttons on the couch...
Yes, that's tricky. It's hard to work with some meshes, esp. when they involve buttons & lotsa shadowing. I've had to get rather creative with that sort of thing and am still trying to learn the best way to tackle it. - Quote :

If you start having regular updates, please feel free to share them in our Sims 2 Community Updates section HERE. The rules to posting them are HERE. Sorry this took so long to get back to. To answer your question, yes the e-mail on file here is the one I still use. So you can use that one to send me the textures :D I think the biggest problem I have with recoloring with the textures is I like to have the details of the buttons and the way the fabric folds. When I apply a retexture it loses that. I am still very happy with learning how to recolor, though. I think I might focus on the easier furniture. I have a few sculptures I want to do hopefully tomorrow. Shooting for another update by mid next week. I will definitely post on that forum if I start having regular updates. The toughest part is trying to find time to actually get things recolored, tested, packed and uploaded. It all sounds so easy but it can be quite time consuming as I'm sure most of you know!

ON THEIR WAY, Bwin!!! Let me know when you get them. Enjoy!!! Continued good luck with your recoloring. It gets challenging when there are buttons & shadows, as I've said. I don't have any particular tricks to get through it to be honest. - Quote :

Don't I know it, dahling! It's quite time consuming but most definitely a labor of love for me. I am so grateful to be able to share what I create for our beloved TS2. It's worth the time, energy and devotion I put into it each time.

| I especially like the top Blue Paisley sofa, Beckylynn. Pretty! Did you have any trouble trying to recolor the metal framing? When I recolored this mesh, my recolors of the metal framing didn't come through for some reason. | |

| I didn't recolor the metal frame. When i recolored it i used Wizards of SimPE and just unchecked the box next metal. I used the original white color that maxis had. I would like to try to recolor the metal though. | |

| I think I used SimPE to recolor this sofa. Hmmm... Maybe I'll retry using Wizards to see if I have better luck, BL. I'm not crazy about most of the metal frame colors. This sofa could definitely use more options of them. Let me know if you DO decide to recolor some of the metal frames and if you have any luck, okay? | |

| I love the sofa! And the chairs are spectacular! They'll look great in some of sims houses and in their backyards. I was always so peeved when I wanted to use this chair and realized "Oh..right...IT ONLY FRIGGN' COMES IN WHITE!" I'm going to try and get some random sculptures done for an update tomorrow on my journal. There's this cute frog sculpture that comes in three colors but I'm thinking it needs at least a bajillionmore. | |

I shall package the Plastic Dining Chair recolors up and offer them during our next update (a week from tomorrow), Bwin. I'm so glad you like them. Which EP does the frog sculpture come in? Also, did you happen to see our Sims 2 EP & SP Catalog Lists? I think it might come in handy, esp. if you're recoloring Maxis items and need to know WHICH EP they came with. Check 'em out and let me know what you think.

Isn't it? I've recommended it to Ulli, also, as she recolors Maxis art and has just started to recolor Maxis rugs, too. I find it invaluable myself, Bwin, and am grateful Susie let me host the catalog lists here. - Quote :
