A whole bunch of happenings in my 'hood - and one BIG event!
Logan Varner's ( Jen) and Brittany Murphy's little boy, Pete Varner is now a child - dancing here with his mom on his birthday
Later he visited SimPly Edward's Geoff Webster's family. Around the table are Pete, Shirley Hough, Julianne Hough, Ann Hough, Geoff, and Logan who came by to pick up his son and stayed to dinner. Ann is now a teenager - and a hottie!
Shirley Hough is much more down to earth. Mom (who's at the top of the Music career) is coaching her in piano
I did have Annie Droop all lined up for Alan Rickman, but then Heather was posted on MTS2, along with a superbly creepy set of Gothic black lace dresses (also by Droopsi, who also created Heather and Annie ) I think that Heather is even better for Servius Snape and she has really moved in on Alan!
Sugah's Ella Warne and Toni's Francesco are now married...
As are Hugh Jackman and Jen's Kate.
But the social event of the season was the courtship between Simone Broadswood-Smythe and Toni's Owen. Simone's mom and dad - Nerissa (an NPC) and Sugah's Nathaniel are among my very favorite sims in my 'hood. Simone turned out so yummy that I was really motivated to populate my neighborhood with kids. Simone might just be my very favorite sim of all. Owen (who's a budding scientist) proposed to her...
... and she accepted!
Who could resist?
So they gathered for the wedding - I actually did run a wedding party again - just for Simone. Her mom and dad were invited, along with her younger sister Toni, who took a week off from college and looks stunning in her long dress. Toni was named after our Toni (aka ilikefishfood) who showed me how to rescue Nerissa from my crashed 'hood. Owen's family was held up by some sort of firewall (inside joke). Is Nerissa checking out her SiL here???
Right after the ceremony.
And some crasher (in this case the gal in the pink dress) always shows up for the free Champagne.
Maybe Nerissa had just a bit much when she spontaneously started to serenade Nathaniel
And it's unjust! When a guy says nice things about his bride and toasts her - what does he get for his efforts? A facefull of cake!
They put on some music and at first Toni was dancing all by herself... (BTW, as a "grown-up" she had her very first Champagne - and loved it )
"What these young people call dancing, I'll never understand"
But then Nathaniel eventually got caught up in the spirit.
Could it be that Owen already has MiL problems??? Better have some grandkids, Stat! (But first Simone has to become Chief of Staff)
"I'm sorry if I 'pulled a Pippa' at your wedding" "Yes, you did! And I loved it!"
Just some pics from the past - Simone has always been a super older sister.
Simone and Owen have a passionate smooch before the party ends - much to Toni's amusement!
Boy, didn't we have some wedding!
Keeping it PG-13
Nerissa and Nathaniel now have an empty nest, and are at the top of their careers. I'm putting them into the "Retired" subhood. They'll still show up to admire their grandkids and (one day) for Toni's wedding. (Toni is "going steady" with Frederick Weasley, the son of Ron and Nisa Weasley - just might happen)

Ever since the Launch problems I've recently started unplugging my wireless when I play, just in case ;)
That's cool that you have a retirement village in a subhood! Great idea! I have a reno of a big EA house for a retirement home :)

Actually, Pete Varner was named after the Harvard football player Pete Varney. In 1968, both Harvard and Yale were undefeated going into their final game against each other. As a mere 1962 Harvard graduate I had no chance at all to get tickets to the stadium and saw the game via CCTV at a raucous gathering in Sanders Theatre, even now still the largest indoor venue on the campus.
The Yale team featured quarterback Brian Dowling - immortalized by Gary Trudeau as "B.D." in his Doonesbury comic strip. He still appears in the strip on occasion. Cal Hill, a Yale running back, had a 12 year career in the NFL and was named to the Pro Bowl 4 times. The actor, Tommy Lee Jones, was a guard on the Harvard team.
Yale went out to a 22-0 lead, and led 29-13, with 40 seconds left in the game. In those amazing 40 seconds, Harvard scored two touchdowns, and succeded in 2-point conversions each time. With no time left in the game, Pete Varney caught the second 2-point conversion in the end zone. Final score: Harvard wins! 29-29. And to all you Yalies out there...
Pete Varner seems to be headed more toward a musical career than an athletic one.

Well I do hope that works out! I just built a recording studio into the home of one of my musician simmies. If little Pete grows up and becomes a musician, I'll build him a house with one of these if you like!

Oooooo! Your design talents know no bounds! Actually, my musician simmies tend more to classical than to contemporary

I can do that too! I have a deco cello, and a working harp! Pair those with a grand piano and a violin, and we can have a very elegant music room.

OMG! Everything!
I think I might have seen the harp - was it on MTS2? I did send a note about one to Ari! And I have a couple of grand pianos -which play fine but don't add to the music hobby.

Thanks Sandy! It's all free stuff, inspired by a couple of great sets from another Sandy, at Around the Sims (her recording studio and musical instrument sets).
Mac, one of the later EPs game with a Grand Piano. I also have a stellar glass grand. Yes...glass! You can see inside. Very cool. It was from a discontinued site though. I saw it in someone's screen shot and inquired, and they sent it to me. I'll take a picture of it when I go home, and if you like it too, I'll send it for you. Very elegant.

You may recall Ahnold, whose RL escapades condemned him to a Grilled Cheese Lifetime Want (he's currently at 35/200), and that he became engaged to Hunter's Taylor - 3 bolts yet.
Well... "You may think you're the big cheese around here... But our relationship is toast! Our engagement is terminated! I won't be back!"
BoyOhBoy did I have fun with this one!

As Taylor walked out to get her cab, Ahnold was heard to say "Hasta la Vista, Baby". Taylor does have a penchant for husky, macho guys though. She also wanted a guy who, if push came to shove, could beat up Ahnold. She entertained He Man and they're friends already with 2 bolts! Taylor's also encouraged... He Man's sister, She Ra, will keep him in line! ]
Gotta lose that goofy haircut, though, even if your head does fit the bowl!

Taylor is a creation of Hunter, an absolutely brilliant creator of sims, who, alas, doesn't create much anymore. You can find her site here.

I'm quite sure she hasn't created anything in a couple of years, maybe more. I have not heard from her in ages and ages in any capacity. I fear she has abandoned Basic for Sims AND left the community, though I can not be 100% certain, of course.
Fun stuff, as always, Mac.

Just some updates, and the beginning of a story. John Kerry is married to Ari's Echo - and just about now is thinking that being mayor of Simsville is a whole lot better than being Secretary of State!
Meanwhile, Malia, the daughter of his boss, just turned into a teenager!
Gillian Murphy and Ethan Stiefel (Toni - )are engaged both in my 'hood and in RL. They just got a lamp with 3 charges, but won't be using it since they are both getting close to the top of the dancing career
Toni's Apollina (Fortune/Scorpio Athletics/Art) entertained Derek Hough and Zac Efron - Zac is still single, nudge, nudge, wink, wink
Rowena (from SimTr) and Caleb's Eamon Beneoit have a daughter, Joan, who just turned into a teenager. Needless to say, she's heading toward an athletic career, and just might change her surname to "Benoit"
At the memorial service for our friend, we ran into a member of the choir when we were members. She married her partner, and they had a little boy (by artificial insemination). Our friend was amused... Some friend of theirs asked "How will he learn about girls???" She felt that with two mommies he probably would have a head start. Come to think of it, I didn't really learn that much about girls from my dad, sort of had to figure it all out by myself - and am still doing so! Anyway, Monet (she's the blonde) and Chantal Fourier have adopted a little boy. He came with another first name, but I changed it to "Joseph Fourier". All you engineers and math types will understand...
Joseph loves both his mommies, but is getting really close to Chantal.
One of the things I love about the Sims is that it has no hang-ups about what constitutes a family!
